What Car??

Featured Replies

The time has come to replace SWMBO's Clio. The new one is a bit too big to be a direct replacement. So here is a option list:

1. Must be no more than Group 3 Insurance ( So daughter can drive it too. She's 20)

2. Less than £9000

3. Good space

4. Sporty

5. Low running costs

After a good look around we have narrowed it down to the following (No order)

Fabia 1.2 Sport (Underpowered)

Mitsubishi Colt Blue ( Free 3 year's servicing and 1 Year Free insurance)

Fiesta Zetec (She hates Ford so might be rejected)

Are there any more cars out there that fit the bill. What do you think??

I must say, I'm really impressed with the Colt:

A new Toyota Yaris. I love them!

Or a Citroen C2! On Citroen's website at the moment are some fantastic prices, but only this month i believe.

I really like the look of the Suzuki Swift tbh.

Both the Suzuki and and Mitsi look great IMO...

Both are great lil cars...

I agree..

Between the too I'd go with the Swift...nicer looking and better equipped for your

Why not drive them all and make up your mind then?

1.1 Colt is class! It sounds like a l'il 911 at certain revs , when I had one as a courtesy car I never used the radio , that little car made me smile , and it felt a lot faster than my 1.4 mpi Fabia , with one cylinder less! The Blue is nice inside too , really nice looking Blue/Black interior , shame you don't get aircon , front fogs and the rear hatch spoiler as standard , but I reckon they would be availible as cost options upon order.

Sorted.

I like the new swift. I have heard its a pretty decent car too.

The Swift all the way for me also

Honda Jazz?

No idea on insurance group or how flexible they are on their prices, but the Micra SR160 looks like an excellent package :D

When I look in the car park at work I see 3 Fabias, 3 new Swifts, 3 Pug 206's,3 Fiestas, 1 new Clio, and a plethora of assorted dross.

For the money, a Swift 'aint too bad, but the local ( to you Chris) dealers are pants at aftersales, as are the Pug. dealers.

For the money, I'd risk a Mitsi.

HTH.

Who am I to argue Graham!! Seriously....The garage have been very good to us over the years. They have just changed franchise to Mitsubishi from Renault so I would like to keep going there (Nicholas Smiths, Skipton) THey were very reasonable when I got rid of the Megane. They even agreed with me that it was a pile of ****.

Thanks for your advise guys. Think well have a look at Suzuki on Saturday too. Micra too expensive and looks crap

Peugeot is French....Not again!!

Citroen...NO CHANCE!!!

Looks like a Colt at the moment. Will keep you posted

SWMBO picked it up tonight. Very impressed. Engine sounds just like the Fabia 1.2 12v (Its a 3 cylinder too). No rattles, very quiet, comfortable and feels nippier than the Clio (That was lumpy)

They put a sunroof in??? at the dealers????

They actually cut a hole in the roof of your new car????

I hope it doesn't start to leak...

I know, i was gonna say that........Kiss Of Death Time!

They took it to a specialist sun roof place in Bradford for it fitting. It has a warranty period the same as the car. Not worried. Its electic and tilt/slide too:thumbup:

We had one fitted to a BX after market, and after 18 or so years there was an occasional leak, where the rubber seal had dried up and gone hard. Leak was solved by cleaning the seal and then using a suitable lube on it. All good after that.

TBH i think it will be fine.

We had a sunroof fitted to our old Manta. Remember watching out the window (I was very young) as the guy started taking his tools to the roof of the car  Did an excellent job though and it never leaked :D
