Got to drive a great car

Featured Replies

I had a chance to drive my sister-in-laws car last night a Daewo Matiz. My god what a heap of ****! I was never so glad to get out of a car in all my life.

Daewoo's aren't designed for people who like driving. They're sold to people who want a package, including maintenance, warranty and a car as well. They just want to get from A to B.

People who buy Daewoos are, IMHO, the same type who go to Curry's and buy a TV/DVD/stereo package, without actually seeing or listening to the products!

"Appliances", as they're also known. :D

I think it goes beyond that. I have owned and driven some dodgy enough cars but this Daewoo takes the biscuit. Today I have had a real contrast, I have test driven a black Octy vRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in love :new_silly

I know the feeling.. I made the mistake of borrowing a Brabus K8 (tuned SL55 AMG) and now the rest of the world seems a little inadequate........

I had a drive of my Sister's 225 Audi TT over Christmas...only 2.5k on the clock so a bit tight still....but apart from the interior...I'd take my Octy everytime.

No way is the TT worth double the cost of the Octy!

You think a Matiz is bad - try a Nexia or Espero!

Agreed, old vauxhall opel based cars. The MKII Astra and MKIII Cavalier I think.

Well, if you're over 6ft tall, you won't like it very much. I had to drive one belonging to one of our sales folks the other day and I couldn't find a driving position where I could see out of the front, and have enough headroom! It was nice to hear that the TT180 still makes the dieselly startup noise that's so familiar from my Octavia days.

I occasionally wind up the regular driver of the TT by calling it a "rebadged Skoda"

:happyface Phil

Oi I once owned a Talbot Samba........Nuff said!! :o

I don't think I've ever owned a crap car.

My first was a Nova, then an Astra....

Oh hang on...I'll get my coat ;)

Nope the Daewoo Matiz wasn't fun, the brakes on our one were slightly lacking compared to wha t i'm used to!!!:toilet:

Has anyone driven an Ford KA, I found you have to wear ear defenders cos of the noise!!!

Matt

Our other car is a Luxury Ka and I love it! It's like a go-kart crossed with a limo. Chuckable handling in leather comfort. The CD player drowns out the 40 year old engine note ;)

I find the Saxo/106 horrible cars, as apart from general hatred i find that my right foot either rubs against the brake pedal or wheel arch when it is on the accelerator. The old Estelle wasn't the nicest drive either.

Yes I drove a Saxo while my first Felicia was getting fixed after a smash. I hated it, it was very tinny and like you say my feet seemed to wide for the pedals as it was difficult to avoid pressing 2 at once. Also found the same in a Rover 100 hire car (I wear size 12 boots :-)).

Not driven one like, but my mates got one and the quality of the interior is simply appalling, both to look at and in terms of fit and finish. The glove box lid is not even attached to the dashboard, and it feels like your sitting in an oversized bean tin with windows. Oh and the engine sounds like a 20 year old diesel out of a tractor.
