Cruise Control Well Impressed

Featured Replies

Not ever having had a car with cruise control, is it easy to use? I pick up my car soon and am driving to Heathrow the same day. Are there any things I need to know about setting the cruise . i.e if I brake does it automatically cancel the cruise control etc?

Have cruise control on the L&K Estate - have also tried it out a few times and fairly easy to operate but would not use it on UK roads - you need to have your wits about you and be alive to sudden stops up ahead. In the US or the Aussie outback, perhaps..... But I'd much rather be in control second-by-second on UK motorways.

Yep touch the brake it knocks it of its soooo easy to use  .

Having first tried it out on those long open French roads I also now use it a lot here in the UK and even though we have more congested roads here it is safe to use provided you pick the right road.

Just one quick touch of the brake cuts it out so there is little risk provided you are alert and awake.

Also bear in mind that while cruising you can adjust the speed up and down by about 1 mph at a time, with the end rocker switch, so it is fairly easy to match to the traffic. But I agree that in the UK you do have to keep alert.

if you put your foot down will it cancel? or will it effectivly limit your speed?

It responds to the accelerator normally, then when you come off the pedal it resumes the cruise speed you set.

Cruise also cancels when you depress the clutch pedal too but I find the best way to deactivate it is to just lighlty flick the cancel switch on the top of the stalk, just as effective and no need to press any pedals
