Featured Replies

Popped down to Vrstu the weekend to have cruise control fitted all i can say is why didn't i have it sooner fuel consumption was miles better on the way home none of this on off accelarating mallarky and stu done a excellent job and kepted me in coffee  Thanx stu nice one;) .

I had mine retrofitted by big k. Its an excellent option for keeping out of trouble! :D

Always a pleasure Chris.

I'm glad you like it, I find it a little different to the Fabia vRS as there isn't so much engine braking when slowing up behind someone.

I had it on the Fabia you know Chris, but you seemed to trigger happy with the smoke pedal, that I don't think you ever actually engaged it. ;)

He might not off been able to find it through the smog :D

You don't really need cruise when you've got it firmly planted on the floor.

That car of yours jason so put a smile on my face every time i pressed the pedal just laying down a smoke screen i thought i was james bond  only there was no oil pouring on the floor;) .Still the BMW driver got the message:D .

so how much in terms of MPG does cruise save you on a derv mobile then on the motorway grind would you say stu?

It all depends on driving style. I've found using cruise is less economical especially round here where there are plenty of hills. YMMV as they say ;)

Chris

I wouldn't like to try and quantify it as there are so many variables but from my experiance it was better.

I often travel into Dorset and with the Fabia I experimented several times with the cruise on and off. With Cruise on I would arrive at the destination perhaps 3-4 mpg better off.

It's not all about the economy though. It's really useful in built areas with a large camera population. In fact I use mine in pretty much any area where I want to stick to the NSL.

Glad you like it :D Stu did mine too, as you know, and the return trip from Prague saw no change in mpg, as I forgot it was there most of the time, and I had my foot in the carpet

anyone know where i could get this fitted on the fabia vrs up in Scotland?

Definitely a bonus avoiding speeding fines & points with sneaky cameras everywhere.

The journey from Perth to Aberdeen via Dundee is a pain.

As stu know, i've considered it before, but as with all things it is down to cost. That being the same reason i'll be staying with the MK I for a while now.

The joy of airbags. Prior to airbags no issue, now i'm worried the thing will blow up in my face. The explosive in them isn't exactly what you would call super stable.

For me it's an I would like it but unless i would get a reasonable return on my daily grind to work and back in terms of better MPG or similar then I'll have to put if off.

What force of 'shunt' is required to set them off?

I read/saw something about 'a joyrider' tactic of breaking to make a pursuing police vehicle hit their rear end thus airbagging the cop car.

Maybe i've been watching too much tv!

:D

Chris you driving Jasons car was ONE of the funniest times on the trip, as it must have put a smile on everyones face. Brilliant.

I had my 06 Ferbie three weeks last wed. I paid for Cruise and had to wait another 3 weeks for the factory to fit it. At times I forget that I have got it. But saying this it is so relaxing. Also when I use it I also like you say it saves on fuel. Instead of being a hooligan with the accelerator I just press cruise and the car drives itself and it's much more economical.

So chuffed with my Ferbie I have done just over 1200 miles in three weeks.

Cruise works really well with my DGS, when travel up to London in the early hours using A303/M3/M25 I rarely have to adjust it and have a nice comfortable journey achieving somewhere in the region of 50mpg!

Hi Chris can you tell me where the place is that fitted your cruise control

Oty Ambience estate:)

It's in Hampshire ;)

Found my cruise worked well on a trip to Heathrow and back. But was surprised at how good it was at only 30 mph on a slower road.

Not ever having had a car with cruise control, is it easy to use? I pick up my car soon and am driving to Heathrow the same day. Are there any things I need to know about setting the cruise . i.e if I brake does it automatically cancel the cruise control etc?
