Heated rear screen issue

Featured Replies

Thought with the time of year coming, I'd better get this sorted out. Basically I have no rear heated screen. Switch "looks" fine. It clicks and the orange light comes on. But no demisting.

Any places I can go looking for faults first?

Check the wiring - perhaps some numpty forgot to connect the switch or there is a simple fault ? Lets face it - thats more than likely given the interesting wiring installation in your car ;)

Do you have a cheap DMM? If so, check whether you're getting 12V across the element on the screen. This way you'll know whether your wiring is OK or not. Then work backward towards the switch (or, if you *have* got 12V, check the connections before reaching the conculsion that your screen is knackered)

Check the fuse for the rear heater window as well?-Have look in your manual - its number 39 in the dash panel on mine

Do you think the light would still come on on the switch still? Even if that had popped. Good first place to check though. Thanks. :)

The plugs have been known to come off the screen itself.

To save removing both the top & bottom trim - where are the connectors, top or bottom?

Thanks in anticipation.

DB.

You can check for voltage by touching the element with one lead of a dmm, with the other lead earthed. As you progress across the screen, the voltage goes from 12 to zero.

Two years ago, im guessing its fixed ;)
