The search I used was just the word "Skoda". :)

Should have shown a Ford or a Vauxhall with the bonnet up ! Never seen Skud on a hard shoulder un-less it was a pi$$ stop or maybe a taxi with twin mass failure !

Or a police Octy vRS on the hard shoulder having pulled some ch@v over:D

mine is an unreliable piece of crap, but i love it with my heart. just in the dealer every other minute (fabia vrs) :(

So is mine, but mine is definately not loved any more.

(although I have to say, it's never actually left me at the roadside with the bonnet up, it's always been drivable(just))

Mine left me stuck at the roadside (twice!). Where do I send my pic?

Why ??? whats fell off it ? Ferbies are the least of our worries compared to twin massed Occy taxis....got FOUR in today  Claybank looks like a taxi rank at the moment !

ehh whats this "twin massed" malarky, and what lump does it apply to?

justn asking cos I recommended an V plate octi tdi to my mate- hope i did the right thing:confused:

Hm, Octy I PD130 Thrashed to over 100,000 miles in under 2 years with a tuning box, only fault was a duff boot light switch.

The 2 Skoda's I've had/have and the 3 that a colleague of mine has driven/is driving have been faultless.

Both of the in laws Fabias have been utterly reliable as well.

From my POV the Skoda brand reigns supreme.

Early Occy's do not seem to be affected,it's these new later ones that play up....BUT only ones owned by taxi companies,no private owned cars have come in dead in the water. You advised well about buying one:thumbup:

Does "twin-massed" refer to the dual mass flywheel? If so, it's in all the PD engines :D

Chris

Crikey ... didn't realise it was going to get so complicated!

I just wondered if anyone knew who the "TUT" registered Octy belonged to :)

Just for the record, the only time mine left me stranded by the roadside, it was the dealers fault (Mitchells Skoda, on the Wirral  ) for not changing the coil packs when I asked them to. Swines!

I thought "Dual Massed" referred to the way my stomach felt after the steak I grompfed at last nights meet :P

I remember when first looking at Octys back in 2000/01, the brochure had a page headed something like "Great accessories to go with your Octavia". Top of the list was a tow rope. Cracked me up!

The next version of the brochure came complete with a picture of said tow rope being used; the Octavia towing something else of course.

I do wonder if it was a deliberate joke :D

Thanks for the re-assurance:thumbup:

I'd been put onto the octy via taxi rides in them-grand cars, esp for the moolah.

Every taxi driver i've spoken to has had nowt but praise for them, and i've driven a few in my time. glad my mate's V plater aint affected. sometimes "progress" comes at a cost:confused:

as for the taxi not private issue- how many folks do you know that have their car running 20hrs a day?

Newer... what reg year onwards do you call newer?

remapped pd130's in particular are unreliable when remapped (clutch/turbo wear).

some are unlucky, others drive around the problems but the reality is any tuned car needs other uprated parts to compensate.

I am going to remove my remap as I cannot afford for the above to go wrong.

Never see the cars at all after the clutch and flywheel have been changed,by rights you should have warrenty on the parts and work if carried out at a Skud dealer,i think it's two years.

I must admit to being afraid of this new techno stuff and am sticking with my old Estelle and Favorit with good old style clutch (ten years on the Fav and just giving up now ! )

Thanks for the re-assurance:thumbup:

 Only 20 hours a day ????? I have dealt with Taxi drivers that tell me the Occy's are never switched off, only the driver fails :D

it was carried out by a dealer om the last day of my three year warranty so does the bit about 2 years warrty still apply

because i fear it now feels worse than it did before

what would you class as sypmtoms of flywheel problems
