An Expensive Evening

Featured Replies

Driving home very late (in fact it was the early hours of this morning) I passed an incident on the M27 involving three vehicles at which recovery vehicles and police were in attendance.

As I passed there was a loud 'thud thud' and realised that all was not well so pulled over to the hard shoulder. On closer inspection I realised that I had TWO punctures

Anyhow, after being recovered by the AA (luckily I am covered for this with Skoda's Roadside Assistance) I have been relieved the total sum of £344.54 for two new tyres and wheel allignment. :( . What makes it worse is that I had only just replaced my tyres last month!!.

Tyres had a 'gash' in each one as you can see from the piccy's below.

Might be worth contacting your insurance to see if you can claim off of the other cars insurance

Luckily you weren't speeding and the effect of two simultaneous punctures wasn't compounded.

It seems a bit steep for two tyres though.:thumbdwn:

I suppose you can count your blessings you weren't involved in the accident.

At least you stopped safely and no major Damage.....My!!!.... you have Funny Hands....

:thumbdwn: Nasty one mate, happens when you least expect it... do you think it was debri from the other incident:confused:

I am in the process of doing just that. Luckily a Police patrol car spotted me and gave me all the details of the accident and included mine in his report as having sustained damage as a result of debris from the incident.

Should be okay then Steve if the Rozzers are in on the act. Just watch out that your company doesn't pay out and then try to claim from the third party - if they are unsuccesful you lose your NCB.

Having new tyres burst is a bloody shame. Remember the Ace Cafe steve? My Fabia was about about a week old, And i was on the Steelie. Brand new tyre gone!

Glad the police are helping you out, but, Keep on their case, as we had an inncident in the family recently, and no records were forwarded.

I had a puncture today on a 3500 mile tyre. A rock got chucked across onto the slip road from the dual carriageway as I was speeding up to join. Must have come off a lorry. Hit it with the front left tyre. Instant flat. So i'm on the spare now. Grr.

bad luck mate, hope it gets sorted and comes off the other blokes insurance. glad the police were so helpful :)

bad luck Mr Makefish, hope you get your toys fund back from the insurance. :(

There was one on 27 a couple of weeks back a lorry and a car pulled over for accident and about 10+ cars all over on the hard shoulder with flats :(

Were they pilot sports by any chance?

£344.54 for two tyres?? He can F*** OFF! :D

Good luck with the claim, hopefully they wont say that the debris was already present and the cause of the other incident. If this was the case you will lose your ncb.

Anyone ever had a puncture on an old tyre - they always seem to happen when they're new!! I had one when my vRS was about a month old

He can F*** OFF! :D

Guy's don't panic Dave hasn't gone mad!!

It was a location joke, you had to be there to appreciate it. It refers to Mr Fish kindly asking the accomodation rep to leave our apartment in Prague.

My commiserations.

I'll still swap your 2 punctures for the new air con radiator & condenser, a new front frame thingy and undertray I need after hitting a BFO piece of wood on the M6 last night. Car is 2 months and 9 days old - didn't need an air con re-gas quite yet.

Dealer currently thinking of a number between 1 and 1000 and trebling it to quote me unhappy.:(
