Skoda Ipod connecter

Featured Replies

Hi

Picked up my new Fabia vRS last week - compete with cruise and Ipod connecter.

Everything hunky-dory except the Ipod connection.

I havent been able to set it up using the CD6 button. It plays playlists through the CD selector buttons 1-5, but after using it for 15-20 minutes it suddenly cuts out and the radio display says - "no CD". If I turn the radio off for 5 minutes it starts to work again.

Also, even when the key is removed, the Ipod itself stays on - I thought all power would be off when key removed.

Has anyone got any experience of this - its a genuine part as detailed in the Skoda accessory brochure and made by Dension.

Perhaps you have a defective one - take it back to the dealer.

I had an iPod connector on a BMW 3-series, that kept the iPod powered on all the time, never turned off. Only a small power draw, but along with alarm/immobiliser I had to remember to disconnect it before going on holiday!

Your other symptoms do sound like a fault though.

I don't think the ipod staying on is a fault. If you leave your ipod plugged into your computer and turn the computer off the ipod stays on.

Obviously it will auto power off after a set period of inactivity, as this is a built in feature, so i would imagine thats what the connector kit is relying on.

Whats it like to use etc (ignoring your problems at the moment) because i'm thinking of getting one for my vRS. I looked into getting one for my old head unit in my old car. I took my ipod to halfords, connected it and had explored the functions etc.

TBH i though it was crap. Only worked off the "Artists" menu and wouldn't let me change to "Albums". I have a lot of compliation albums and it really p**sed me off not being allowed to listen to a whole album properly unless it was all by the same artist  .

It plays off "playlists" - you can have up to five. All you can do is move forward and back by one track or fast forward/reverse. No CD Text or anything like that.

To be honest - i'm very disappointed with it - even ignoring the problems I'm having. It allows you to listen to far more music than a cd changer, but much less flexibility/control.

This sounds like the Dension Ice Link. It also sounds like you've got a faulty one. But regarding the power feed, you can set this to (IIRC) never, always, switch off after 20 minutes (or something like that). Access is through the GUI.

Using playlists is one way of using the iPod in the car. Set them up "properly" and you're fine...but it can be a bit of a hassle of you want to listen to a particular song/album/whatever. You should be able to switch back to the normal iPod GUI and control the thing from there, giving you access to all the usual iPod searches.

TBH, I prefer to use the iPod GUI -- but then Ive got it set in a cradle by the centre airvents, and it's easier to reach and control the iPod than it is to stretch to the radio buttons.

Hmmm,...... I suppose i'll have to come up with a couple of playlists and just keep skipping through the albums track by track. But at leas thats better than the "Connects2" attempt for sony headunits! I mean, how many people wanna listen to their music collection track by track ALHPABETTICALLY!!!! (Total Sh*te!!)

I wonder if this is the same for CD-MP3 head units?? 10 Albums on one CD and you have to skip through track by track to get to the album you want???

My last head unit was Mini disc so, until now, i've had no experience of MP3's etc.
