Rally-Slag

Featured Replies

First off, Hi all, first post on the forums, even though iv been a member a few months!

I own a 2000 1.3 Felicia Popular, in Red. i am 18 years old, and was given the car by my grandma and grandad, as they never use it, they did 9000 miles in 5 years!

Ok, the plan....after seeing many pictures of the felicia in its rally days, i have decided i really want to get my car looking like the rally car. Me and a few mates have discussed it before, and think it will be a bit of a laugh. Mods are going to be visual only, for now....

I have come across the OZ Superturismo (?) alloy wheels, which are white and look very rally-like. The ones i have seen are 15", will these fit my car without any suspension mods?

Also, anyone know of anywhere that i can source a rally-decal kit for the Felicia?

Any help will be appreciated,

Cheers in advance

Matt

I dont know much about Felicias at all but people normally recommend altering the suspension for looks and handling improvements. The main thing I would be concerned about is the wheels fouling on the bodywork.

Imo, if poss, get at least 16"s with a 195/45 tyre. The rolling diameter wont be massively different to the 15"s and will fill the arches better.

Welcome to the site too!

Halfrauds used to do spray on rally mud

and imitation wrap around trees :D

I have 16" Super T's on my Wagon, same stud pattern etc as the Felicia.

My mate Simon Clarkes old car  De-facelifted Felicia 1.3 with facelift bumpers kept, genuine works mirrors and lamp pod,H+P coil-overs and arch extensions to give the kit car look.

super t's in white..... blimey they're rare! they're not vw motorsport ones are they?? or have they been powder coated by sombody?

anyway on the 15 rims go for 195/45/r15 tyres then slap some lowering springs on there! you know you want to....

I'm sure he went on a big spending spree at Demon Tweeks and of course his local Skoda dealer !

heres some pictures of my beasty in action:-

Decals you would need to get made up from any photos you can find and get a signwriter to do it "by eye" The old trophy ones are long gone.

Yeah I know everyone likes big wheels, but most felicia rally cars never ran them, the only ones which did were the kit cars which had completely different suspension setups to the original car and so could handle correctly with the extra weight and gyroscopic effects of big wheels. (yeah most drivers are a bit to ham handed to feel the effects but when you are driving a car on the edge, you can REALLY feel the difference, and to me a felicia or favorit on 15's or 16's feels like a pig to drive compared to 13's.

As for suspension, you can still get the HP suspension which is adjustable platform coilovers. This is as good as it gets this side of a widetrack kitcar conversion and pro-flex.

of course if you are going for the rally slag look instead or a rally replica look, just stick on a huge set of wheels cut the springs and shove any random stickers you can find on it. i hate the term "rally-slag"

Yep, I got the photo when Simon had it. We used to race our Ibiza on a fair few events where he did the photography.

Always liked it.

Had so much potential, shame it was never realised.

Reliability problems? or Pace problems?

Back in 2000 There was a Group A seat Ibiza 16v GTI out on the BTRDA that I regularly traded stage times with, and a group a cupra that again I traded times with when we were on the same rally. The weird thing is that the cars and drivers COULD beat me on some stages but on others couldnt touch me, always seemed inconsistant, from what I remember that was a ex challenge winning car as well.

Never could figure out a pattern on that one.

That poor old felicia has had a battering though, but still only chalked up 3 retirements in its 10 years of competition, twice through drive shaft failures once through altenator failure. That is pretty remarkable for a car that was always a championship front runner.

Dealer sponsorship as well, well done on that :D, never managed more than tyre changeing services and use of a ramp as sponsorship myself

Hi mate. exactly what im going to be doing. im only going to be 17 when i get it on the road

Have you got a pic of your wheels?

not sure if skoda_kid is still about? tiss an oldish thread.

your best off with 15" tbh. they handle better than 16" or 17"

you can get those lamp pods from demon tweeks

Hiya. If you really want an authentic looking Favorit Gp A car, then you need to decide whether you want gravel or tarmac spec, and fit 13" rims for gravel, or 15" for tarmac; others have already shown the correct pattern.

Yeah keep it plain looking and go for quick engine etc

The kit car arches are good but the track is narrow still and then everything else needs upgradins to wide track for better results.

Ive got an ex trophy felicia, and they were just standard shell, with a fairly bog lump and better suspension and brakes....
