Super chipped (Need Advice)

Featured Replies

Hello can anyone offer me some advice about my car been super chipped ????

Ive had the ECU remapped up to 170 BHP Id just like advice on what else I need to change such as the Clutch etc to cope with the extra power.

Please offer me all the advice you can as ive only just altered the BHP to 170 !

just don't leave it in 6th all the time using the low down torque otherwise you'll kill the clutch in no time apparently.

upgraded brakes would be a good thing, the 312mm brakes off of the octavia vRS are a very popular upgrade, sets get sold on here quite often so have a search in the for sale section :)

Whats the torque figure, as lots of torque is what the clutch doesnt like. If its not to much higher the oem clutch will cope fine. I wouldnt change it now anyway, even if the torque is high, wait until this one is worn out before changing.

Many peoples clutches do last a long time in remapped cars so dont go changing unless you really need to. You just need to be sensible with it and stop doing those racing starts.

Mines coming up to 60k miles with a superchips map on it and the clutch is still fine, and that after the last 3 years on the motorways where i spent most of my time at 5mph stuck in traffic where i'm using the clutch almost continously!

I do all kinds of driving in mine yet the clutch is fine :) One of the only things that is of late mind...

My clutch seems to be fine after 2 years and 20k miles. Use the gears, drop into 4th or 5th to pick up speed, keep the revs up. Don't thrash it in high gears/low revs every thing should be Ok..................Andy

Exactly, low speed and high gears kill TDI clutches, not "go boy" driving!
