Pugeot 306 Diesel remapping.

Featured Replies

A mate has a Pug 306 Diesel that he would like to squeeze a bit more power into. Being a turbo I suggested remapping but dont know of anyone who does it - any suggestions?

I believe Allard are good at tweeking the pug diesels.

So long as he has the HDI, Dragon can help him out with a tuning box (90->115bhp). Celtic tuning do a proper remap, but they've been getting quite a bit of interesting press on here lately, so I'm not sure I'd use them :D

Yep. I think they are limited to what they can do as I believe the TD Pugs aren't intercooled. They do offer a range of options mind.

I think Shifty had a tuned 306 TD Estate. Might be worth dropping him a PM.

Shifty did indeed, and it was allards work. Obviously not the cheapest, but with an FMIC and a bit of a tweak here and there, a good 150+ is achievable.

Allard Motor Company

That would depend; the older XUD(T) engines with the mechanical fuel pumps can't be chipped.

Yes I did, and it was Allards. The map was provided by superchips, but it was tweaked slightly. The Hdi is limited due to having no intercooler. Allards did a fantastic job on mine, and it went well too.

Screw mod tbh!

I know little about the pugs, citroens etc...

I did read that they have (some of them) a two stage fuel pump and that greater "urge" at lower revs can be had by bypassing the low pressure side of the circuit.

Looked on GSF car parts forums at all?

i had a 206 hdi. but as said you can only really get about 120bhp safely before things start to go cos there is no intercooler. there a few boys on pgac running 160brake with a fmic, bought off ebay and fitted themselves. LS diesel performance powersticks, tunit and dragon boxes are plug and play. plug into fuel pressure loom.

angel tuning do a map which can see 120. chris and dabz off pgac had it but its £300 notes.

best way to free up torque is to get shot of the particle filter - devil do a decat for £150. best bit of kit about for it.

my last rr @ dastek in fife was 126 bhp and 189lb ft of torque with powerstick, decat and k+n panel filter.

i sold mine as the turbo was going. fmic should have been the first thing on the list

306 1.9TD can be modified, usually by fettling with the fuel pump, turbo etc.

The 1.9 has a chuffing great intercooler over the top of the engine with a scoop at the front of the bonnet to direct air over the IC.

Best mod for a 306 would be to drop a 2.1TD into it and then have that fettled with :)

Serious worry on the 1.9 is the head gasket as even at 91BHP that was kind of stretching it a little. The 1.9 could easily pop the head gasket, whereas the 2.1 didn't have that problem.

The 1.9XUDT and 2.1XUDT have fully mechanical fuel injection and as such can't be chipped. You will have either the bosch fuel pump (with a primer ball) or a lucas one (with a plunger on the top of the fuel filter to prime it) These pumps are pretty different from a tuning persepctive, but somebody like allards should help you.

The HDI engines can be chipped.

Hope that helps.
