Make sure you run your own HPI check regardless of what the place said and also take somebody who knows about the cars to check them out.

I know people who have bought from supermarkets and as long as you are careful most seem ok.

Wasn't Carcraft on Watchdog about 18 months ago?

I have bought a previous car from the Great Trade Center (now Cargiant) in London Whitehill. Lots of young (high milage) cars coming from fleets with a good price. You get f all for your trade in though, and test driving can be a lot of hassle.

Bought a car for a friend from Fords of Winsford a few years ago. No problem getting a test drive. It was only two years old and looked a bit rough with some service history missing. Having said that it was under half list price and is still going strong over 80k miles later.

Yes, although I wouldn't touch them long before I saw that

Fords of Winsford are good and have massive stock. You can bowl up, get the keys for half a dozen cars and sit in them for as long as you want with no salesman to get a feel for stuff. You can't drive them without a FoW person, though.

Good if you want to have a play in lots of motors to make your mind up...ric

We bought a car from Motorpoint and they were fine. It was the one in Derby but they do have others in Glasgow, Burnley and Newport. Motorpoint

Bought my Fabia in CarGiant, test drive is a hassle/limited. As they try to sell car like tesco sells food. But having said that, my 6 year old fabia still drives fine after 1 and half year of ownership.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Carcraft but I have never used them so I can not say personally. My mates dad used Motorpoint in Derby for his new Mondeo about 2 years and I was quite impressed, helpful, no pressure and gave him an excellent trade in price for his car considering the condition of it.

I would have no hesitation in using Motorpoint for myself in the future, I got involved cause I went with them to look at the car and ended up paying the deposit on my credit card as the bank was closed.

I have just bought a 54 plate Corsa CDTI in Millenium Motors in Nottingham. Alloys had very light scuffs on so I knocked them down a fair few hundred and they ended up replacing them anyway.

Car had 8100 miles on and is imaculate, I understand it was ex company car but that doesn't worry me as it still have manafactures warranty on. Anyway very happy with it.

It's not all bad, but just go through the car carefully before commiting. I insisted on taking the car for a test drive.
