Passed my NZ theory test yesterday as the UK licence only counts as an international licence in NZ for 12 months.

To be honest as long as you've read the NZ Road Code you'd have be an idiot not to pass. It's pretty much all common sense!

Most drivers here are pretty poor IMHO.

Also insurance isn't compulsory and you can drive at 15 years old, so you get schoolkids driving Impreza turbos (with the exhaust removed and replaced with a drainpipe)

isn't there stricter laws regarding modifications in NZ tho??

I got 3 licences, UK, South African and Ghanian. Love the test for the Ghanian licence... Can you drive ? Okay then pay the money and here is your licence. Simple as that. Test what test, a simple question will surfice.

The Mod laws seem pretty odd to me, if the Traffic Cops program is anything to go by. Suppose it's just a different way of doing things...

All the road code says is that you have to check with a registered WOF (MOT) agent before doing them.
