TVR closes Blackpool factory.

That's a real shame. I think this was the gameplan all along for Nikolai. I know this country is not a cheap place to manufacture cars (especially low volume cars) but others manage to do it. Noble have the bodies made abroad (SA) and then nail them together over here. I also think that TVR lost focus after the Rover V8 era and became too big for their boots. My Griff is what TVR should've carried on making. About 35 grand and a dirty big V8 up front. I wouldn't spend 50 plus on a Tuscan. I wonder how Peter Wheeler feels counting his 15 mil now.

IMHO they spent too much time and money developing several new cars rather than just one. Too many fingers in too many pies.

Should have developed one sports car to rival the Boxter/350Z rather than the Tuscan, 350C etc.

And cars which fundamentally seemed the same...just how many 2-seater

They were going to relocate and stay her in sunny Blackpool, within spitting distance of my shop. Shame they are leaving the country. :thumbdwn: Who can blame them. Me next.

That is such a shame, how many are left now? (Dave please relocate to Madrid, you will corner the market and we dont have a Fish and Chip shop here yet.)

Having just come back from Toronto - I can only agree, what a place.

As for TVR this has been on the cards since day 1 - as others have said - the range is too similar, pity they didnt put the same amount of effort into building maybe 2 models properly rather than keep on changing what they have.

Re: TVRs - are they as unreliable as some people seem to make out  Just asking as some older TVRs including Griffs are quite cheap which makes me think occasionally .....:o:D

I'm on my second Griff and I have had more problems with mainstream cars. And it's nothing to do with expectations either. A second hand Griff or Chimp is a cheap way of reminding you what's great about driving. Most of the issues have been sorted by now, and the engine / gbox are pretty bulletproof. There are lots of specialists out there to sell and service them. My advice is get one now, because soon, you won't be able to buy New ones anymore, and IMO the Rover cars are set to be classics.
