VXR Monaro not fast enough? Try this..

I like that, lots. Come on 6 numbers, come on.

I saw the VXR500 a few weeks ago. It's actually CHEAPER than the normal VXR I think, which is a bit strange.

I want one badly but the mrs wont allow it, and insurance would be crippling :(

I read about this in Evo, IIRC it's also £1k cheaper than a regular Monaro.

mmmmm now that is lovely... if only l could win the lottery!

Looking at the Vectra on there - revised suspension electrics to reduce understeer

That is actually funny, as they at ther same time give it 280bhp. No thanks.

Thought they had stopped building these... thank god they havn't thats one awsome motor. Handles so well too.

A standard Monaro was parked outside my house a few days back. They don't look a great deal special in an odd colour and parked up. But they look fantastic on the move.

Monaro's don't handle well. Where did you get this information from?

Chap at work has a remapped Monaro with CAI and straight through exhaust - LPG conversion too

I goes, and sounds, fantastic! At 12 months old he bought it for 20k and has spent another 4 on it.

Having a play with an M3 results in one very embarrassed BMW driver :D

It's FAST and if I didn't do massive mileages I'd have one!

i was driving back to work alongside/dehind a non vxr monaro yesterday, they were just bimbling so i couldn't hear the engine or exhaust over the general road/tire noise :thumbdwn:

do you get topgear in your neck of the woods? they had some jap drift matey driving one as sideways as he wanted, as and when he wanted :D

Some people think if it's got enough to overwhelm the rears at pretty much any point then it doesn't handle. 'Ordinary' modern cars have homogenised driving somewhat so people expect vague and bland and if it does nothing dramatic then it must handle well.

I personally am a massive fan of the Monaro and used they're a fantastic buy. At 5.7 litres there's absolutely no stress on those engines (not VXR - 6.0  ) and they'll run forever

OH Yes Pleeeeeeeeeease.:clapclap:

Must just be me, thought TG said they were going to axe the monaro.

Yes we do, but I don't have time to watch it. I rely on reviews I read in magazines and if it has exactly the same layout as the the US Lumina SS, then either the reviewer din't right what he really went through, or the Japo driver went into fluke mode and claimed it to be what he wanted. They're pretty heavy cars too, which is one of the reasons it's a wide goer.

I've driven the 350Z, Porsche Cayman S and plenty of sport Beemers...I don't think that statement you just made, which is pretty insulting, is valid here.

That was a dig on journalists, not you. You haven't driven one I assume?

They are. Word on the street is that they had trouble shifting the last few, so they supercharged 'em! Beats throwing in a sunroof and mudflaps in my book!

Phil

yeah, i believe it's pretty much Holden Monaro=Vauxhall Monaro=Pontiac GTO=Chevy Lumina SS.

the jap driver was some type of joe drift, i don't think there was any luck to what he was making the car do. but having said that, a car's ability to drift doesn't necessarily mean it handles well. horses for courses and all that :)

It looks like a dealer jobbie, rather than a Vauxhall factory job. Warrented by GM though. 500bhp mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:thumbup:

evo reckon it's a proper-bo vauxhall "limited edition" 500bhp??? how about 500lb/ft

Might have a pop overthere tommorw, only 5miles away:thumbup:

See how well it goes against a local std red vrs ;)

My fav car at the moment but 10-15mpg is not good plus havent seen any with LPG conversion for sale at all, theres one in my area just 350hp one though but sound amazing plus alot cheaper to buy than M3 thats 2 years older than it
