Does the 110bhp TDi drink oil?

Featured Replies

My boss just got a 2003 L&K 110Bhp Tdi for a run around.

I have heard that they drink oil. Is this true?

Also anyone know the front & rear badge numbers as the have changes colour!!!

Ill put a picutre up tomorrow so you can see what i mean.:)

110 should be silver TD and red I

You are probably looking about a litre between services, although more is not unknown.

My 110 TDI used almost no oil at all.

In the 10k miles between services it would drop from the full to about the half way mark on the dipstick

Mine takes about a litre half way between services (which are about 28k miles apart). I'm about to put a litre in it now in fact. It's 1/3 up the nobbly "think about putting some in" area on the dip stick (1/3 in oil, 2/3 not).

Mine tends to consume about a litre between services (variable)

Like all diesels they would use a bit when new but after that as othetrs have said are fine, ours used about a litre between services which were 23000 apart as it was on variable servicing.

If he needs any silly little bits I came across this a couple of days ago, obviously certain parts are unusable but it looked like a tidy car prior to its demise

Used Parts and Spares :: Hills Motor...

Ouch.... that one must have taken a good wack from behind!

I had a 1.9 TDI SLX on an S plate....used barely any oil between services.

What got me more was that I was charged

I have a 99 SLX Tdi 110 with just over 100000m. Check oil religiously every Sunday(!) and get serviced every 10000m. Oil use is minimal with hard driving.

I do get the engine flushed every second service to keep it nice and clean.

No sign of mine using significant oil so far. Saying which I've only done sort of 3_500 since getting it, then it was serviced, and I've not done anything like that milage since then.

99 SLX at 197 000 km. Oil change interval 15 000 km. No need to top up ever.

My 110 Tdi needed about half a litre between the 70k and 80k services (well the 80k service was done at about 82k - so that's half a litre in 12000 miles). It drank a bit more when new, but soon settled into that sort of consumption. It's driven 'briskly' ;)

Well, I have 2001 Octavia combi with 1.6i petrol engine with just 38,000Kms.........

Like 4 weeks ago my wife toll me the car needs a quart of oil and I was like:eek:

So I check the engine to see if I found something extrange and for my surprise, the plastic tube thats goes connected to the PCV (Positive Crancase Ventilation valve) is cracked and is pouring oil. I cant see the oil spot on my garage floor because all the spiled oil was on the engine cover under the engine.

So I call my dealer and ask for that tube.........Is a big one that goes from the filter box to the buterfly mouth on the injection system and it has a small tube PCV that goes to the engine.

Well, they dont have it on stock and they want like US$100.oo for that part:(

So I jus fix it myself buying a rubber tube of the same diameter..............

BTW, in the morning there was a rought idleing and when I fix this thing the idleing problem goes away.

I asume the MAF sensor was reading something but since air was entering thru the craked tube it has this rought idle problemo.

So is a good idea you guys to check you PCV conection.

my pd130 doesn't use much: maybe 1l a year.

good job, too, as that oil is *expensive*....£13 a litre! it'd be cheaper to give it single malt!

yes... I was wondering about that earlier.... with the extra cost of 'long life' oil, does it save money with the fact the intervals are futher apart, or cost more due to the high price of the oil??

Not gospel or anything but i've heard variable servicing isn't that great if you don't do high miles. if it's 2 years between services, perhaps you'd be better getting it done every year instead.

note that even the fixed servicign interval oil is bloody expensive! 505.1 for fixed, 506.1 for variable - good luck getting the latter in halfords...!

My main reason for not going to variable Landwomble; with the milage I do, it could easily mean 2 years with no attention other than MoT test. The TDI's partly for economy (with fuel at £1-07 a litre here and not showing any signs of going down the 20mpg better economy is nice), and partly for the easy driving torque and ballistic acceleration at main road speeds.

ballistic acceleration at main road speeds.

I wish mine did that

Your turbo still playing silly bugger matt?

You can get 506.1 in halfords it's castrol edge 5w-30 states it is vw rated on the back and the front used to say replaces SLX longlife II

Some days seem to be better than others for it :-(

I got my oil from some place in redruth.... can;t remember the name off the top of my head now though.
