Sudden power loss explained

Featured Replies

See my original post on August 14th.

My car (octavia tdi 110 with dragon tuning box) suddenly lost power; there one second and gone the next. Down about a third on power I'd say and a hesitation under acceleration.

After living with this for some time and the local garage unable to help I eventually managed to get the car to a VW Audi specialist who read the fault codes and diagnosed, guess what, a faulty MAF! Surprise, surprise.

Performance is now restored and all well, so a happy ending. I did try removing it and cleaning in isopropanol but this made no difference.

Also, another thing to watch for........the pipe from servo to vaccuum pump was falling apart at the joint between the hard plastic and one of the non return valves just next to the bulkhead. I guess it gets quite hot there. Easy repair; it was sleeved with a larger piece of hose.
