Octy dezeezle 1.9TDi just died!

Featured Replies

Welcome to my day from hell! Newby briskodian and the first time I talk to the populace its a crisis!

1.9TDI Octy suddenly lost power on a hill seemed to clear a little down the other side, came up to a roundabout and just died.

Rescue man very helpfull tried allsorts but no luck. It just felt like it ran out of dezeezle! (no its 1/2 full!)

It appears the pump is just sucking fuel and returning it to the tank.

Tank float chamber clear, tubes not blocked

Pump seems to be sucking ok.

fuel getting to injectors but possible not at a good pressure.

Any Ideas pleeeeeese before I have to take it to a man who will start sucking a load of air through clenched teeth

I'm not sure about the octy, but my old car had a high and low pressure side to the fuel pump.

Daft question but you hadn't just filled up with fuel had you?

You need to find somebody with VAG COM in your local area or get a dealer to read off the fault codes. Additionally do you have any warning lights on etc?

Oh and welcome, but sorry it isn't on better terms.

Filled up about a week ago. definately from the diesel pump. No warning lights - just lost loads of power for about 200m then died. Only one problem in between it being filled and dieing - started at work this tuesday cracked it up felt like it was about to throw the engine across the car park switched off switched back on coffed and ran ok - not missed a beat till today. The man in a van plugged something in under the dash but would giv him all the details but he was happy with what it said.

That sounds like the van man checked the diagnostics on the car.

Doesn't sound promising i have to say. If you try and start the car again did it start again or was it totally dead?

There is a relay somewhere that is replaced with a newer part, relay 109 rings a bell. One part is grey the other black but i forget which is which. Will probably set you back about £15 for the part plus any fitting if you don't DIY.

EDIT: just checked the new one is black the old one grey

The X (109) relay failing will not show up any fault codes.
