Engine Hoist

Featured Replies

Hi

Im looking to get a Golf GTi engine in my track Jetta. Got everything ready to roll except a hoist.

Anyone know any cheap places to get one or anyone getting rid of one?

Thanks

Adam

The last time I used an engine hoist, I just rang round the local tool hire places.

The one I used kinda folded up, so you should be able to get it in the back of an estate car.

Or I guess that most of these places deliver.

Last time I used a tractor with a front loader, mind you that was 25 years ago

Or if you are doing it in a garage, just throw a rope over a roof beam.

If you and a couple of mates are doing it its fairly easy with a roller(Skateboard) and lifting the front end of the motor up, rolling the engine under, lashing some ropes around it and standing on the strut tops lifting whilst someone puts the gearbox and OS engine mounts in, the front and rear can easily be rocked into position.

Please note this method is as rough as a whooores heartbeat but has worked for me in the past ;)

One of the guys at work wants to get rid of an Engine hoist, has no need for it anymore. It is hydraulic with a capacity of 2 tons, it folds up and comes with chains. It will need collecting from Lincoln, make an offer if you are interested?
