The best place to put the jack, is underneath!

The best place is to be stood back, whilst someone else jacks it up.....

Then when it rolls down the slight gradient, and drops off the jack, crushing your sills and squishing your brake pipes you can blame somebody else:thumbup:

Jacking points are usually shown in the car manual. Usually somewhere hard that can transfer the weight of the car. I usually insert a thin piece of wood to distribute the forces and not leave dents in the metal. The wood crushes up under pressure and makes the jack more secure. Always put an axle stand underneath as well - it can save your life. I had my discovery slip off its trolley jack once (all 2.5 tons). The axle stand stopped me being killed and the landrover from expensive damage. Axle stands are are cheap too.
