Hello out there!

Can anyone suggest an alternative replacement brake pad for the 1.9 model? The OEM are OK, but I can't help feeling that the trade off between longevity and retardation is somewhat on the side of the former, and I would rather have brakes that do not have to think about stopping when covered in winter road salt, even if it means replacing them more frequently.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just used the pagid OEM pads, however pagid to pagid blue (also mintex C-MAX which have a lot more stopping power).

How many miles have you got out of a set of brakes and have you done a fluid change.

Thank you for that. I bought the car at about 35k miles, and it now has 56k, with no significant pad wear. I will try your suggestion though.

You are supposed to change brake fluid every 2 years or you do noticeably start to get fade (IMHO) from motorway speeds. At 50k i needed new discs and pads all around.

Considering going to Mintex M1144s. Would recommend changing brake fluid if you haven't. I got mine done (on just over 2 years from last change) at the start of the month, and the pedal's noticably more ginger.

I believe Mintex M1144 are the same as the pagid blue (same company make it all anyway - TMD friction). The mintex M1144 are part of the C-MAX range and i have heard goo things about them too.
