What Fuel should i be useing in my VRS

Featured Replies

Quick question lads, what fuel should i be putting in my octy mk 11 VRS.

iv been going to morrisons to fill up, and putting normal un leaded in,am i going to knacker it up?

Don't think you will knacker it as such, just won't be running to its full potential, swmbo runs Tescos 99 ron

no you won't harm the engine at all! it is however spec'd to take 98 ron fuel (i.e. super unleaded+) so the engine may be producing slightly less power. ideally you want to fill with shell v-power, bp ultimate or tesco 99 ron but if your happy with the cars performance stick to what you are using! hope that helps a bit :)

CHEERS for the reply, ill have a try of the fuels.

then i can see the differance in the performance

I'd only ever use super unleaded, - min 97 ron. I almost always use Shell V-power though.

most of the time mine gets Esso super unleaded as thats all there is close by...if I'm passing though it will get vpower from the shell garage at whitemare pool every couple of weeks

At the moment because of the fuel price reductions mine gets V-power.

In the past it has had normal unleaded but it feels so much perkier on the higher octane stuff.

cheers everone for the replys

ill defo try the high octane stuff.

still got the normal un leaded in at the mo, and still manage to burn off a boy racer BMW...

Dont think he was to happy, but i sure was

personnaly i like shell v-power as my car allways seems to run better on it, but any fuel will do really

The cheapest super unleaded I've found is Sainsbury's which is typically only 2p per litre more than standard unleaded. There is a definate difference in performance when you put the 95ron 'vin ordinaire' as opposed to the better 97/98 ron stuff!

I Use Shell Optimax. Dont Think It Makes Much Diff. Had A Mk1 Octy Vrs An Still Think Its A Better Built And Faster Car.

TO BE HONEST THE OCTY MK2 VRS ISNT A VERY SPORTY FEELING CAR. I'd try using COAL IF I WAS YOU.

why do you keep posting crap? I've looked through and your recent posts are not very helpful. I gather you are not happy with your car, but others are and they want helpful answers to questions, not rubbish about using coal.

you know what they say, if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all.

and there is no need for capitals either

At least hes stopped using capitals at the beginning of every word

Well if people want to make mistakes an buy Skoda crap its up to them, there are plenty threads on this site about poor build quality.a perfomance car? NOT. wot does Vrs stand for?? Very Rubbish ****e?

Interesting that you call yourself Ian Fabia Vrs then:P

just because you have had a bad experience does not mean everyone does.

The MK2 is as much of a performance car as the MK1, i.e not at all, they are family cars with a big engine stuck in them.

I've had three skodas now and not had any problems with any of them.

Here's a thought............Go to hell

HTH

Do you think Briskoda would exsist if everyone who bought their Skodas thought they were crap and ditched them ASAP.......No

The 2 litre FSI that Jenny has in her car is the same across the VAG board, just this one came in a Skoda wrapper. Would you say that a similar Audi was not of performance background??

ill be honest the Fabia vrs is a good car!! the Octy vrs is Crap. looks unsporting all jacked up at the rear, drives nothing like a sporty car,you fell disconnected driving it. i loved the mk1 octy vrs an fabia vrs. just think the octy Vrs is not a good car. 200bhp. where it is i'd like to know? sorry if i **** anyone off. but i just hate the car, just doesnt live up to all the Skoda brocure ****e!!!!

So why have one in your avatar?

personally i thought the old vrs drove crap in comparison with the new one. the new one felt nothing special for a start but once you start giving it a boot after run in period its definately faster than the old one :D! doubt it won best performance hatch or whatever in what car mag for nothing! for the money at least in estate guise nothing touches it for space, speed and q-status.

Sorry, mate. My MK2 vRS estate feels well faster than my MK1 hatch. You just got used to turbo diesel poke and have forgotten what petrol motors feel like. To drive, the grip level is far higher, the gearbox has properly spaced ratios and better action, the traction control controls traction and doesn't just stop you, the turn-in is better, the body-roll is reduced and the ride quality is improved.

As a drive, it's *far* superior to the MK1.

It's still no beauty and it doesn't feel quite so solid, but MK1 was a pretty rudimentary place to be sat. I wouldn't want to go back to that interior.

Anyways, weren't you gonna get a Clio? Or was it a Lotus? Or a TVR? Or something.

Strange how if anyone slates an Octy Mk1 or 2 VRS everyone has a go at the person who dares question its ability/quality, yet it appears to be more than acceptable for certain Forum members to slate the Fabia VRS at every avilable oportunity ?????

Not that I've got a problem with the Octy 1 or 2 VRS I think they're great cars, just a general observation

I'd be looking at running it on the higher octane stuff. I believe it will run happily on 95 RON, but it won't be running the "high-performance" map so you won't be getting the full 200 horses. When switching, it might take a couple of tank fulls to notice a difference as the car will need to adapt to the higher octane fuel ... don't know if there's a way to reset the ECU to force it?
