Bonnet Won't Open + Maxidot Question? vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Dad got his new vRS estate yesterday! However I couldn't seem to get the bonnet to open?! You pull on the lever and nothing seems to happen (no pop from the bonnet etc)... I pulled it hard enough that the handle came off  (I seem to remember that the showroom car already had its one off when we went for a test drive). Am I missing the point here? Is this a common fault and if so can it be easily fixed?

Secondly the car is the 07' spec and appears to have 2 new menus not listed in the manual? Any tips as to what these do? Also is there any way to enable the 'Leaving Home' function if you do not have the auto-dimming rear view mirror?

A couple of nice touches in the new model. Love the 'plip' when you lock the doors (though a 'plip-plip' would be nicer - can this be done?). Seems pretty rapid too though won't give it 'full beans' till its got at least 1k.

Cheers

Mark

When you pull on the lever in the car a plastic arm should pop out of the front grill, you then pull on this to pop the bonnett.

I have seen cars where the arm Pat mentions, doesn't line up with a slot in the grill and pushes on the back of the grill, check this first

You should have an additional leaflet called 'technical changes 05.2006' or similar, this explains the 07 extras

I am aware of this and looked but no arm popped out. Maybe it got stuck behind the grill as Ant said but the bonnet did not even pop up and the handle showed no signs of a 'click' to signify this. Any other ideas?

Looks like a trip to stealers:O

Stealers for us means Lex hire company (company car) and I'd rather try and find a solution myself than give the car to those muppets!

Had this happen on my MK1 vRS. the cable had become detached from behind the lever. Had to take it to a dealer, because they had to break something to get access and the bonnet open before they could re-attach it. All covered under warranty.

The leaving home function cannot be activated without the auto-mirror unfortunately, an attempt was made last week but no go :thumbdwn:

As for the 'plips' when locking the car, you can change this with Vag-Com to 1 plip when unlocking and 2 plips when locking

What's the leaving home function?

Similiar question, what has leaving home function got to do with auto mirror, if you have auto mirror do you have leaving home as well???

I was aware of 'coming home' lights, where the headlights stay on for 30 seconds or something, but I thought you had to have the light assist option for that to work.

Surely Lex won't actually work on the car - they should just pass the request back to their favourite local dealer to work on the car...

I have light assist and I have this function. I'm pretty sure Jeff has managed to enable this on cars without it though.

If the car is under the Skoda new car warranty then any dealer can carry out the work.

Our previous Lex fleet cars have always been worked on by dealers and not Lex. You just have to book the service through them.

ah now this is interesting and something that my dad can never be bothered to find out! so the car is most likely being worked on by the local skoda dealer? i presume if i sent them an e-mail (lex that it) they could tell me who services their cars local to me?

Just to say also took the car out for a drive last night and its worlds away from the old vrs! :D

I'm not sure they will provide you with the dealer's details to allow you to contact the dealer directly. Their normal attitude is to contact them and they will arrange for the work to be carried out.

However, I don't know what happens with warranty work (as opposed to chargeable work such as servicing).

Chances are the local dealer is able to work on the car (most are authorised by Lex), but Lex sometimes will use a dealer further away, and you are then required to use them instead.

just checked both - 07 extras manual did the trick! bonnet issue is still apparent however and despite checking the grill lever even pulling it through does nothing (as i thought as the bonnet does not even 'pop' open). hmmm...
