golf gti vrs fabia vrs

Featured Replies

I've had 128 on the Road Angel with a bit left in 6th. Don't know how big a bit though.

Anybody know if top speed is in 5th or 6th? Traditionally top gear will not pull top speed...

Edit: On topic a vRS vs a MkV GTi is not really a comparison I'd ever even try to make :thumbdwn:

I had a race with a Leon 20V Turbo. I think 150bhp. We were pullin' the same, was quite surprised. And he was driving like a maniac on the road too.

I also had a race with the new Golf GTi...rolling upto about 100km/h I was doin' okay....then he kicked my a$$ all the way to Pluto :D

Leon 20VT is 180hp.

Leon 20VT is 180hp.

That's the older Cupra - they also do a 150.

150hp in a petrol - wow that is underpowered, you should have easily won.

I have about 130bhp in my Fabia, it's an NA 2.0. That Leon din't pull on me like I thought it would, we were pulling side by side.

The Golf GTi race put a smile on my face...it was amazing to see it just take off.

my octy vrs was 180 pre revo and i wouldent have liked to go up against a chipped fab vrs (but again my expirience is with my brothers and we have no idea how much power its running) as for top speed i have been behind him at 125 (with road angel) before we backed off (private road) but he said it had plenty left

he said it had plenty left

I've NEVER heard anyone admit to having nothing left

Mine is remapped and was with a Type R civic (same power), on several miles stop start and through gears.

Last night I surprised a CTR at some traffic lights in my standard vRS. I got a better start, then it had a clearer run in its' lane so I had to back off. It was quicker than the vRS, but not as much as I would have expected. I only saw the back of it when I backed off, although it had just pulled ahead before that.

Well pleased that my little diesel is within shouting distance of a CTR. Remap, PD160 intake, Quaife diff, Jabba ARB, eibachs, 312mm conversion... it's so easy to spend so much on the fabster & turn it into what it could have been out of the factory.

Which begs the question: All these mods are relatively easy, so why don't Skoda do a proper hardcore fabster? In total it would probably raise the price by circa

FAO: Those who think it "pulls hard"

What car did you have before the Fabia?

I had a 206 1.4HDi, but I've extensively driven Scoobies, Audi Ur Quattro, Ferrari 328, E55 AMG, 1974 Carrera RS, Morris Minor, Omega 2.2, A4 2.0 fsi, Maserati 3200 GT, Chesil Speedster, 307 HDi, etc. Obviosuly the Fab is not pulling as hard as the quick ones above but at 90mph on a private road it certainly still pulls away from a 2.0 Focus, a 2.0 TDCI Mondeo, a Merc C270 CDI, a BMW 325 etc etc...

It still pulls harder at 90mph than the 206 did on WOT in second as the turbo came on boost.

Of course it's all subjective, and if you get out of a Peruda Nippa and into the vRS it'll blow your mind, but if you get out of the Merc E55 AMG then the vRS will feel silly slow. The real question is:

Is it quick enough for you?

Anything else is largely irrelevant.
