Recommendations for North East fitting

Featured Replies

Can anybody recommend a good place to get a new headunit and upgraded speakers fitted to my fabia vrs in the North East of England?

I work in Durham but live on the coast, will travel for super quality service.

Me too ! I had my Head unit fitted by Sedgefield Auto whilst I was having some warranty repairs done, and tbh I'm not sure they've done a decent job:thumbdwn: . They were not aware of the little plastic trim that goes across the top of the unit.

Cheers

Rich

Fitting of HU is easy enough - DIY job really. Trim can be bought from dealers for around £3. A search will find the part number.

Speakers are a little harder as I think the fronts are rivetted to the doors.

Don't know of any places in Durham, but there used to be a place called Car Sound in Boro. Haven't used them before for fitting (do it all myself) but I've bought a few bits from them in the past.

Just found these people We Can Fit It Online, could be worth a try, or there is halfords I guess [gulp!]

Head unit I would happily do myself, but I don't fancy swapping the front speakers.

i'll can second carsound in Middlesbrough - really good service...they fitted my alarm for me. Spotless work area and they always seem to have some very nice cars in their getting ICE fitted

I don't mind a ride down to Boro esp is these guys are worth it! Where about are they please ?

I think Sedgefield (Turners) didnt wire up the booster correctly as I can't get any MW. I would have done the HU myself but time is tight at the mo.... but as usual I'll end up having to fix things myself.

Update:

JVC KD-LHX552 bought on Wednesday, received on Friday, fitted by Carsound on Saturday morning.

Friendly people, good price.

At the moment I've left all the speakers standard, the new headunit has improved the sound a little, still think I'll be looking for more (any) bass in the not too distant future though.

Good to hear it (no pun intended!!)

I found that the extra amplification from my aftermarket HU gave better sound quality & the standard speakers were sufficient.

There's no doubt that the bass can be improved further, but I've grown out of that phase now (& I need the boot space!).

Yeah I can't mess with the boot either, the dog wouldn't be impressed.

Front speakers are the best way to go I think.

Next up is somewhere local to fit me a full stainless exhaust!

Did you get the dogguard ok K3vin?

I bought an underseat sub so that the dog wouldnt have to sit next to one in the boot. It is a DIY job to fit one of those IMHO

Yeah sorry I forget to reply to your last pm, received and fitted, dog loving more space in the boot!

I've thought about the sub and seen your thread on it, not sure if all the self wiring is for me though.
