I'm wondering what you can get away with without totally invalidating the warranty, i'm guessing things like a green panel filter and pd160 inlet would be fine? What about uprated/lowered suspension and stainless exhaust?

When i went down to my local dealer (Capitol Newport) for a test drive they had a remapped fab for sale, I was told by the salesman that as long as all the servicing was done by Skoda this was not a problem. But what about the other stuff......

Skoda UK WILL invalidate your warranty if they find out you have modified your new car.

BE AWARE - If the dealer is accepting a previously modified car and selling it on modified, SUK can reject any warranty claims and it will be up to the dealer to sort it out. Potentially you could be left high & dry.

This is my dealer and although I have brake and suspension upgrades they have recently replaced my flywheel and clutch under warranty. My mods don't effect the engine although I would not expect them to honour any warranty on the modded areas although I do expect them to continue to support me with unrelated systems. An exaust is modding the engine in an attempt to extract more power therefore I would expect this to cause you problems.

I also get all my servicing done there, have for years which probably does count for something. That said have a read round the forum. SUK are a bunch of 4r5e when it comes to embracing "enthusiast" and modders and you need to think about this. I doubt very much if they will be getting my money next time round because of their simply stupidly bad attitude. I am puting on the miles so fast I will be out of warranty quicker than a quick thing so replacement is not far away.

I'm planning on taking the car over to allards for a remap soon, so while they've got a chipped car on the forecourt i guess this would be a good time to get something in writing off them to state that my car would be covered just the same.

The warranty is with Skoda UK and not the dealer. So even if the dealer turns a blind eye to the mods and Skoda find out they can invalidate your warranty.

And as we have seen in the past, if the service manager changes to one who is very anti-mods, you may be left high and dry again.

If you can't afford to fix the car, then you shouldn't modify it

They are talking rubbish.

If they are prepared to lie to you about the warranty to sell you a car then what else are they lieing about?

Phone up Skoda UK and tell them what the salesperson said and ask if it's correct

If you are worried about your warranty, don't get a remap. If you are not there are lots of options but don't expect any dealer to honour any sort of related warranty, the salesman you talked to is talking cod5h1te and frankly I am surprised at him/them for saying that.

There are however other options. Might I suggest something a little more discrete?

I have heard that a person at work uprated their cars suspension, something failed, which caused a broken weld or something. Skoda UK simply said, no that isn't stock suspension, you have no car warrenty sir, and I heard they were left with a bill for about

I'm not sure about Green, but fitting a Pipercross or K&N filter wouldn't invalidate your warranty as they're designed and sold as OE replacement items.

Just because a filter isn't made from paper doesn't mean it's not OE standard. I've seen paper "OE" filters from China fall apart out of the box where the PU hasn't cured properly.

I've never hidden my mods from the dealer(s) I use(d) - not possible to a large extent due to it being rather obvious suspension is changed, FMIC + 'zorst as well as the propane aren't things you can hide

Basic assumption should be modifications invalidate warranty in the related areas at the very least, and can be reason to void warranty overall.

I've clocked over 56k just now, 50k service done today, and the car has developed a coolant system problem - I asked the dealer for advise, they did some tests but don't appear to want to resolve the issue (noting this would NOT be done under warranty anyway). Fair enough to me, the car has been very reliable and as per sig, it's modded a lot too, but at least there was an honest relationship between me & dealer

OT but how do you find the quaife on the fabia? I've got (soon to be had) one on my golf, can hold the power down flat in through and out of corners, but bumpy surfaces even in a straight line at pace are interesting to say the least....

Quaife LSD = v nice but yeah, interesting, esp. combined with the rear ARB. Not too bad on the straight with bumpy as long as you keep pointing the steering wheel

Bushes wise I've got the front&rear ones done (uddermod) at the front, if you get me
