Copy Of Work Sheet

Featured Replies

Have had warranty done on my car today ( new CAT converter, fixing the damp passenger foot well , will be having the chrome pipe replaced when in stock) but I was not given a copy of the work sheet should I go back to the dealer and ask for one.

I would, then you know the work has been carried out. It's also a gaurantee

i dont think they need to give you a copy of the work sheet , they seem to have told you what they have done when they handed the keys back anyway

If it's warranty work it will be on the car's record anyway, so any Skoda dealer will be able to see what has been done.

Not quite as foolproof as you may think?

My car (2nd hand from Skoda dealer) continued to clock up warranty work even after I took ownership and had nothing further done....

If in doubt, go back and ask to have a peep at the system they use in Service.

Assuming the car is listed with your name on the service system (a fairly good assumption) then it can be classed as being personal information about you so you have the right to a copy under the data protection act. Sounds a little heavy handed but those three words tend to get people moving.

In this instance, the data is likely to be about the car, and who currently owns it is largely irrelevant. Also, the Data Protection Act only applies where names & addresses are held in addition to other information about a person.

If Skoda are keeping details about the car, what work has been carried out, when the services are done etc and also happens to have your name & address, then that is unlikely to be covered by the DPA.

As someone who is subject to working within the DPA provisions every day, it always annoys me that our suppliers (and bosses, sometimes) have no clue whatever about how it actually applies. "Sorry, can't tell you if it was series one or series two - data protection. You need signed authority for that."
