Heater vents

Featured Replies

1.3 Felicia LXi x reg

The two vents in the middle of the dash work fine, as do the windscreen and foot vents but the ones closest to the doors hardly provide any air or heat, is this a know issue or are mine jiggered?

Its going back in for a few fixed under warranty, coolant leak and headlight leveling think has broke. While I have this warranty I may as well milk it.

PS - honest opinion, will this car do 20k per year (it currently has 23k on the clock and is in great condition, i want to run it for as long as I can, Manchester to Liverpool run every morning 5 days a week)

The 1.3 skodas are incredibly tough, no problems at all with 20k a year, Ive known people take them to 180k, one of my current favorits has 130k on the clock now, still on its original engine and gearbox, never missed a beat.

It canbe usefull to give the underside of the car a good clean with a jetwash to stop rust killing it, the felicias can be more prone to corrosion than the earlier favorits (paint looks better but wasnt as well applied when vw took over) The injection system can suffer a few problems, but nothing major normally. (being as its a skoda parts are relatively cheap).

Skodas rarely leave you stranded at the roadside, they tend to give you plenty of warning about any problems before they let go.

My felicia has done 10 years of rallying (group N so showroom engine) with nothing more on the engine than oil changes and servicing! Despite always being hard driven and front running in national championships. The engines are pretty bulletproof as long as your coolant isnt leaking. Ive been rallying for 10 years and had many different makes of rally car, the skodas have been by far the most reliable Ive ever had.

As for the heaters the outside vents are never as strong on the skodas Ive had, I think its just a result of the longer run to the vents, although they can occaisionally block with leaves on some cars, dont know the facelift felicia dash well enough to know if its as easy to remove vents and check for blocks as the earlier cars.

The outer vents on mine don't chuck out much air either, don't think they're blocked, might just be normal for the car.

the outer vents are fresh air so not atached to the heaters. i think

the outer vents are fresh air so not atached to the heaters. i think

The outer vents on mine certainly blow hot air when the heater is on, though as said higher up are not as powerful as the central vents

I'd say that's a good indication of where the leak(s) is(/are) - I'd certainly top it up with an appropriate mixture (I've got a leak as well on mine, and I'm using Halfords' ready-mix stuff which is also pink as it happens but seems to meet the VW spec). Wouldn't want to use just water with the current temperatures, it could make it a lot worse.

Hope you get it sorted

Thanks for that, like i said I do have a small coolant leak and will be getting it fixed next week, looks like a jubilee clip job but want the headlight levelers fixed as well while i have a warranty on it.

Its a tiny leak so topping up once every two weeks keeps it fine.

Do i need to worry about the pinky red build up of g12 coolant on radiator parts?
