Ignition Advance Question

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am @ India and my car model is:

Octavia 2.0L/85kw/AEG/4cyl

These are my current mods.

- K&N Replacement

- OWS plugs

- Tri-phase (Next Level Performance)

- Magnaflow catback (with resonator, 2.25 exhaust and rasonator inlets, 2'' pipes, 4'' exhaust single tip)

I was checking the Group 010 readings in Measuring blocks of VAG-COM - the car was stationary and revved it (at stationary position, no movement) upto about 5500 rpm. My car idles at about 760 rpm with Triphase switched on. The BTDC values (as per VAG log) are as follows - engine load peaks @ 35% @ 760rpm (idle).

RPM BTDC

760 0

1080 12.8

1560 21

2040 26.3

2800 28.5

.......

5440 37.5

Question: Can anyone tell me if there is a scope to advance ignition timing by about 2 degrees or so without damaging the engine?

My objective is to increase low end and mid range torque and a small increase in overall bhp. My driving is restricted to city and occasional highway.

Thanks in advance,:orb_cool:
