I have some white paint on the off side of my car, a couple of big bits but mostly little dots.

Does any one have any ideas as to the best way of removing them with out damaging the rest of the black paint work, they are several months old now and very dry, I now I should have removed them when I first noticed them but I never got round to it. Any suggestions greatly received

Tar remover should do the trick. I find AutoGlym stuff good, but it will probably need a quick polish and wax afterwards to bring back the shine.
