Chipped vRS Highest Mileage

Featured Replies

What's the highest mileage covered by a Fabia vRS SINCE it's been chipped?

Have there been any problems related to the tuning?

I'm still very impressed with my bog standard vRS,but I'm curious about having it chipped.....

Colin (Neo_VR) must have done 60k odd since remap, hes on about 80k...

Yep and I believe he posted up a "what's gone wrong" just after his 60k service....

Mainly bushes IIRC too. The engine seems pretty durable :)

Still plucking up the courage to do it before the waranty runs out (hasn't even started yet:thumbup: )

P.S. What does 'IIRC' stand for?

My friend has an Octy with same engine. His has been chipped for the last 128,000 miles. Turbo is on its way out now though (or could be that the exhaust is vibrating and resonating :( )

Other than that, no issues.

mines done 40k post remap, a few suspension issues beginning to show now, but thats nothing to do with the engine. clutch is fine so far as is the engine *touch wood*.

Mine's done about 30k post mongreling. hard to believe that was over a year ago now. No engine issues whatsoever. :)

Apart from lots of smoke and lack of performance :P

know mine a pd100 its done 75k since its work, no real engine problems.

Just a shame you never wash it, or put the missing bits back on.

Scruffy Git:D

New brake pads (front), MAF, thermostat done just now + cambelt and related :)

Not bad for about 45k with a map on, the last 10-20k (cant quite remember) with Propane as well.

More work tbd ;)

Ooo.. if were talking consumables too

thatll be

5 pairs of tyres

a FMIC

Front + rear wishbone bushes

Powerflex udders

rear-beam bushes

4 sets of 312mm front brake disks ( they tend to warp on trackdays behind 16" rims)

1 MAP sensor

1 set of 17" rims

:D

Fair point - fixed were the trim that came out a few k post-delivery (just put it back pretty much  ), fuel cap release cable came out (probably not due to Skoda but due to soundproofing fitting, sorted FOC in a few mins by dealer), and the thermostat failing.

Replaced the reservoir + cap for coolant as well due to the overheating problem but that's how it is :D

@Neo_VR - I refuse to list my 'full list' of consumables, SWMBO may be looking, but there are a few hints in my sig :D :D :D

Rear-beam bushes, hmm I've not had to replace those (yet?), first new set of pads but next time it will be discs & pads on the front so will probably go for some Pagid ones or something like that :)

Not a vrs but the same engine. I chipped mine at new and at 80k fitted a hybrid turbo so was pushing 200+bhp and now it has nearly 150k and nothing has gone wrong with and produced 220bhp on a recent RR. Engine and drivetrain are bullet proof.

Does that include flywheel and clutch??? ;)
