Cupholder & drawer install instructions?

Featured Replies

Never knew about this mod, but its a usefull one.

I doubt it will fit if i have an aftermarket head unit though?

Will this drinks holder still fit there with an aftermarket double din??

I don't see why not.. the trim you remove to install it would stay in place if you had a 3rd party single, or double din unit as it slips down the out side of the radio cage.

Just as a completely useless piece of info on this.. I think they revised the design a bit as the cup holder in the pix on here differs to mine a little.. it still pops out and does all a that trick stuff but when closed the right hand side of the trim on mine is smoothed down rather than just shopped off.. it's difficult to explain but it means that it doesn't look quite as flush where it meets the stereo and cubby... the rest, and where it meets the dash, is identical.

I see what you mean, i have just been to check the trim on my car and the facia surround isn't as big as i thought it was :)

I wonder if you could source a cup holder from a LHD fabia to fit the drivers side on a RHD?

I'm sure I've read elsewhere that you can't have a cupholder on the right hand side as it snags the steering column stalks. Left hand side only or I think you can replace the cubby hole under the radio with draws which are pull out drink holders sourced from an Octavia or Polo or something similar.

Hi. I'm looking at getting one of these, but do I have to remove the top left 'blank' as per the picture in an earlier post? - This is a heated seat control in my car, so I'm a bit wary of fiddling with it. Any help gratefully received.

I've just fitted the cup holder (thanks for the detailed instructions). Before fitting the holder would pop out to its full extent freely with no problem. However, now fitted it pops out a couple of cms and snags and I have to virtually pull it out the rest of the way, likewise when trying to push it back in. I tried slackening off the two torx screws and wiggling it around a bit but this didn't make any difference. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a specific piece of trim it might be snagging on?

Cheers.

I had this problem too, was caused by the radio not being fully locked in place (it was sticking out like 5mm) so the cupholder was stuck with the radio.

When I finally had time to put the radio wires properly out of the way, the radio went all the way in (finally!) and now the cupholder works fine..

Btw, my cupholder is on the right side - someone said it would only fit on the left.. My car has the steering wheel on the left so is the center part (which has the radio in it etc etc) mirrored compared to a fabia that has right-hand drive?

I'm also wondering this! Hoping to tackle it today, so will the switch just pop out in the same manner as a switch blank?

If I don't get an answer, I'll give it a go anyway and let you know what happens

If it is like the heated rear window switch then yes they just pop out, you can then unplug the cable from the back and put the switch to one side.

Just make sure you don't do what i did, and let the plug/cable fall into the dash/trim. Took me half an hour to get it back out :o

I'll bear that in mind

Off I go to fiddle with my dash...wish me luck :o

Hungover so can't spell.

Not sure you will need the remove it if its a button.

The only reason the blank needed to come out was because it had an extra plastic tab coming vertically down from it which covered the screw.

Did mine this morning btw, took all of 5 minutes.

Yep, didn't have to remove the heated seat switch  5 mins work and I now have a fully functioning foldy cupholder. Delighted
