Vauxhall Nova Sport

Featured Replies

A few years ago I used to own one of these rare 'homologation special' limited edition beasts.

Has anyone else owned/driven one?

Do you know of anyone who has one now?

The registration was B22 HUX - has anyone seen it recently?

It was unique because I had the stripes spraed on, using a sticker set as a reference.

Must have been an early Sport, all the ones I've seen are/were on a C plate.

My nextdoor neibour had one... was quality :D

I've never seen one for years!

Yeah they were a 1.3 with twin 40 carbs etc etc. Proper 80's rally tart. Used to have a slightly worse for wear example about 6 years ago. Great little car.

Thanks, Mannyo.

Shortly after that photo, I had a 'manifold back' Powerflow stainless-steel system fitted.

The backbox was made to resemble OE, then it was sprayed with 'heat-resistant' red/orange. This too looked like the original.

Heh, ok that's allowed :)

I've got a mate who started off converting his SR into a Sport (engine wise at least) but then went a bit concours and chromed loads of bits.

A real one!! ;)

How quick?

I wonder how much you could pick one up for these days...

*Wanders off to trawl Autotrader, PistonHeads, etc*

:D

How quick?

70-odd bhp 1.3 OHC engine, plus twin 40's where fitted (plus optional cam) would see something in the region of 100-110bhp.

Weighs about the same as a fag packet. Put a 2L family II with the big port head from the earlier 1.8 in for some reasonably entertaining performance.

Chris

I sold a Corsa with an XE engine and got myself the Fabia. The Corsa was fun in every sense and not that impractical for daily driving but it was just so noisy and modified... the Fabia's still got the poke and doesn't get unwarranted attention :)

It had no radio in, but eh, the music from the twin-40 Webbers was bliss!!

Here's me thinking about the 'Sport.

The Sport was great....the Sport could do anything.

When....POW!- up pops my fairy godmother with " I'll give you three wishes" routine.

Wish number 1 is easy. "I wish I could have a Fabia vRS".
