Which replacement windscreen wipers?

Featured Replies

I noticed tonight that my windscreen wipers may need replacing soon, or it could be that they just need a good clean :o

Anyway, are there any decent replacements that I should know about?

Iv you want too splash out I recommend silicon wipers. Iv got these fitted to mine and with the windscreen polished and rain x on it is amazin.

the oe factory fitted ones are made by bosch, i allways just use standard replacement bosch ones

Just go speak to the dealer , or if the IOW dealer is silly expensive freebourne.

I found my local dealer to be cheaper than halfrauds.

Bosch ones same as OE are good and about

The aero wipers off the Megane II fit perfectly on a Fabia IIRC from a thread on here. I just get the Bosch ones from Halfrauds - they're less than GBP20 a set now...

Another vote for Bosch from Halfords.

the genuine skoda bosch ones are £17.99

and the replacement bosch ones from halfraudsare £19.99

Need to be Bosch as the passenger side needs to be curved....Look at the originals.....The reanault ones don't...Hope this helps Andy

I just got some Valeo Aero wipers for my Octy. Cost me

The wipers (Champion) on my Octavia had started to judder so I decided to replace them with genuine Skoda ones. I noticed that the new passenger side one was curved. Why?

I had Champion X3's on mine for the last month and they made so much noise, juddering and streaking on the screen that I've just spent the last 30mins in the dark trying to replace with the original worn ones as I can't take another minute with them!!! the old ones (2 years old) are actually better!!

I'll probably pick up some standard Skoda wipers this week.

If the wiper is not curved it will leave a pile of water on the screen when it gets to it's furthest point. The drivers side wiper will remove it as it returns to the botton of the screen but for a split second your vision is obscured. I think it's because on a straight bladed wiper the middle of the blade does not touch the windscreen when it's at it's furthest reach, it's the shape of the screen i assume.....Did that make any sense????............Andy..[No dout somone will prove me wrong..:( ]

That makes perfect sense. I didn't notice the curve when I replaced the original ones this time last year. The wear indicator was yellow but I didn't know what it was until I bought these new ones! I've not used the new blades in anger, just washed the screen to see that they were ok.

I'll certainly stay with the originals now. I've now got the spoiler back and they've got the wear indicators on too, which is a good idea.
