i know this is a daft question but i've never had a car that has'nt needed an mot by the time i got it

Should be 3 years from date of first registration.

Needed 3 years from the date of registration. You wont get a reminder for MOT's

Its up to you to remember

You can get the MOT done upto one month before the cars 3rd birthday. If you take the V5C to the testing station they will post date the MOT to the date of registration.

You will get no reminder, and if you forget and are stopped will be fined.

No MOT probably means no Insurance although they should cover third party liability

With all these static cameras checking info like TAx & MOT I would move fairly quickly.

I sympathise, I once worked for a small firm with a company car & discovered to my horror when they went to tax it that I had not been insured for 6 months. I wonder how many company car drivers actually check. In a n accident its the driver who carries the buck, not the company

A guy at my work once got 3 points for driving a company car with no MOT.

I thought no MOT was NOT an endorsable offence?

We too had a colleague driving a hire van long term (nearly a year) before someone realised it wasn't insured. Not funny at all!

l sorted got one done just now had the spanish inquizition by the 2 scallys in there about what engine how fast etc

the kid said he'd just passed his driving test and was paying £1700 notes for insurance on a 1.6 astra at 24. so i said have you got any history to which he replyed "yeah i've nicked cars no tax mot insurance lisence driving whilst disqaulified etc etc"
