Nice find! Get one on order!

You first!!

Any idea on a price? Are they available to order over here?

Listed as an AUdi or VW part.

Stu, if you (or Ted perhaps because of his business?) could find out if it could be fit without having a very bad impact on FM reception (dont care about AM particularly) I might be interested in 'being first' ;)

Drop us a PM/MSN me if you're interested :)

The number has been superceded to 1K0 035 507 J and is £25.37 Plus VAT.

For the GPS version it is 1K0 035 507 K and that is the princely sum of £57.11 Plus VAT.

These are paintable and according the the original person have a good AM/FM reception.

It looks good, but where would I put my "stitch" (of lilo and stitch fame) antenna topper :D

I saw one on an audi A3 that i was parked next to.

It looks the dogs :)

will this fit on the tavvy 2 vrs with no problems or doesnt anyone know

I would imagine it's perfect as the original thread I read saw it fitted to a MK5 GTi

as for the wiring is there a plug underneith the head lining or just to the head unit

  • Author

The connectors are just under the roof lining.

need to be honest i dont really like them that much

each to their own tho:)

SO this would be a pop old ariel off put new one on and don't need to worry about dropping the roof lining more than an inch or so by the arial?

You need to lower the lining enough to get your hand in and undo the cables and locking nut.

just orderd one will be here tomoz let you know how i get on

I initially thought that these looked awful (from the pictures), but after spending 20 minutes waiting for the parts department at Docklands Audi I had a good and proper look at the ones stuck on top of the A6 and A8 and I actually quite like them

Another mod added to the to-do list ;)

when somebody posts a pic of one on their car i will make up my mind!

My only concern is the remaining engine-related stuff on my car could still cost >1k quite comfortably and I've already committed to a short shifter + baffled sump + 60k service. Also the brake pads on the front are squeeling like mad post-replacing them so I have a feeling I'll need new disks :( - once I know the full extent of the damage I will look into this one again, might get them to order it in for me though ;)

You still have 2 lines of 'specs' left... ;)

just fitted sharkfin the connector plugs are different so cut the old one off and graffted the old plug onto the new wire the reception is so poor and the wiring could not be any better anyway looks good but i will have to remove it to put the old one on but with fingers crossed am goin to try and tape the old dogem styled antena to the beam that runs along the back of the roof on the inside and hopfully i can keep the shark fin on cause it looks cool i will get some pics posted

i will let you all know how i get on with the old antena on the inside and sharkfin on show

Perhaps the new sharkfin doesnt have the integral booster that the oem aerial has. I wonder if fitting the booster you would normally use with an aftermarket headunit will improve reception.

Bugger I wish you had posted before cutting as there is some info on changing the plugs over.
