New baby

Featured Replies

Well new baby has finally arrived. Just wanted to thank everyone who gave me advice during summer re which model to go for. Went for 2.5 TIP. Only managed 120 miles so far but loved every minute of it. Daily commute into London has never been finer than today. Big thanks to Falmouth Garages down in Cornwall - pleasure doing business with you and 5 star service from start to delivery. Sorry Baker has mudflaps and for next 3 years no mods!

Wrenko, nice motor:thumbup: Liking those alloys.

Welcome to Club Superb! :)

All the Best

Chris

lovely looking car.

WOW!!! That is a lovely looking car you've got there.

That colour suits the car too. Had mine two or three months now and still cant wait to drive it.

The 2.5 engine is addictive mainly because of that lovely sound it makes. I was worried about it initially re mpg but its the best choice I made.

Us Superb owners will take over here soon...in the nicest possible way;)

Looking good. Quite like those alloys......

Nice motor mate!

Would love to see it when the sun is shining.

Got mine on Saturday and i am making any excuse to drive it.

That looks very nice indeed. Any options specified?

The colour suits it down to a T.

Cheers folks. The alloys are the new CYGNUS option otherwise she's bog standard (though for some reason the air-bag deact is now standard on the f/lift). Just trying to find any excuse to drive it. 20VLIL you hit the proverbrial on the head when you say the 2.5 is addictive - beautiful sound.

LOL, everyone is different mate!!

Love the colour and the wheels certainly look like they suit the lines of the Superb.

It's just a shame that Skoda have reverted back to fitting the 'Old Skool' wiper blades and arms!! Makes it look a little out-dated but then with the new grille and mirror's it's 'Back to the Future'!!

That does like nice. I still blow hot and cold with my car, one moment I love it, the next I am totally uninspired by it. I love the economy of the 1.9tdi, I hate the racket it makes. The inside is a lovely place to be (especially with heated leather), the outside sometimes leaves me cold. The facelift grill looks great though, I might have to check up on one of those if they are a straight swap. I've never driven the 2.5 Tdi. If it actually sounds nice and doesn't shout 'Massey Ferguson' at you every time you turn the key, I might have to look quite seriously at one. All in all though, beautiful car mate, hope you have lots of fun with it.

Congrats on the new mowta..........I'm off to look at a 2.5TDI comfort this very afternoon.

Don't you like your 1.9TDI for noise then Sam?

that looks well....superb:)

I'll get my coat.

The grill section seems to be mounted on it's own 'panel', fixed to the front edge of the bonnet panel. I guess it would be possible to swap that section.

Baker21, have you had a look already?:D

LOL, no mate, IMHO I prefer my older grille as it's wider, I can see why Skoda have made the new grille narrower at the base as it does change the look but it's not something I will be looking into.

Having said that all the new parts on the facelift model should be 'plug and play' as Skoda won't have wanted to invest much money into this facelift model.

I am confident that you could buy this new grille assembly from Skoda and bolt it to your older Superb no worries..........

I am liking that a lot!

Love the new style mirrors, is it me or do you have a side repeater on the wing also?

Or is that a badge?

Regards

SJ

In no way does the 2.5sound like a Massey Ferguson....its a raw and meaty tone....difficult to describe

It's a small silver coloured badge with Superb written on it. Must admit I like repeater mirrors too and they look great at night.

Baker 21.... The 1.9 Tdi really gets to me noise wise. I like things that sound nice (I am a Sound engineer for a living) and the 1.9 sounds too agricultural to me. Truth is, I want to hear a big V8 but refuse to give Gordon Brown a shed load of cash for the pleasure! I am currently torn between making some changes to the car or changing the car altogether. It's like an itch that I can't quite reach.

IMO the 1.9TDI VAG engine is very quiet in comparison to other diesel engine's on the market?

Sounds like you need to change motor for a petrol one mate!!

2.5v6 sounds even better when you feed it Ultimate BP.

I had a 1.9 for a couple of days on test and then 2.5. Could see advantages re economy of 1.9 but as this was my first diesel the noise was a concern. Guess telling point is that 4 days in with the 2.5 & I'd forgotten I'm still driving a diesel. Exception is of course when u start up with cold engine but after that nice and smooth. My disaster in waiting will be when it comes to filling up and I fill her up with unleaded. BTW I also found steering lighter on 2.5.

Burnsey aside from reduced noise have you seen improvement in mpg with Ultimate?

I cant get Ultimate where I live but still get a good 38-39mpg on everyday fuel.

Only costs me

Already filled mine up with Ultimate Unleaded, expensive mistake to make!!

My 1.9TDI runs on Ultimate Diesel and I don't find the noise to be a problem, may just be me...........

Your wallet won't though! IMHO BP ask a hefty premium for this fuel.

Locally, Shell garages sell the Shell Extra diesel as bog standard diesel.

Although the car ran smoother, and more responsive I didn't notice any improvement in economy. (That might have been me enjoying the better response though:D )
