Removing Fabia Bumper Grille plus License Plate

Featured Replies

I've seen some pics of modded Fabia vRS's which have had not just the centre bumper grille removed, the plate mount as well (no luck digging one up!).

The nice big opening is then fitted with some black wiremesh/ screen.

Apparently removing the bumper grille itself is a piece of cake (if a furby is the same as an octy) : http://www.milotec.de/pdf/octavia/421_05.pdf

The question is (to those that have done it) - what it the neatest way to cleanly remove the front license plate mounting as well? Does it simply clip out/unscrew or do I have to introduce it to my good friend Mr. Dremel?

(With my Forge FMIC on order, I have a cunning plan to defeat any semblance of heatsoak for next summer.....)

Cheers:thumbup:

i think the plate mount just levers off , no screws , then you have to cut the bumper away around the indentation the plate mount sat in

the lower grill just pushes out iirc

Jason will be along shortly with the definative answer i sure

That's the one!

How did you get the plate mount removed Luke?

Well it was like that when i got the car but i think the number plate pod clips out then there is a recess round that you can use as a cutting guide  (this bit was not done on mine hence the reason it is wonky  ) i think i will get another bumper and do it again properly

Luke

the way you do it is get one salesman on his lunch break removing the bumper one mechanic helping, pull out all the plastic bottom sections then unscrew the number plate and rip the black plastic backing off it you will then find recessed plastic bit in the colour of your car cut round that ( we did it with an exhaust cutter) then fit some rubber round it we used a favourtie door seal (keeping within genuine skoda parts) plus we had one lying around lol then refit bumoer fairly easy to do and takes about an hour

As mine's non vRS, it was more tricky. I ended up firmly and slowly cutting mine out with a stanley knife. This left the cleanest finish. :)

Its being tarted up in a fortnight. Full respray of bumper, net bonnet, Luke's old grille, and it should be looking gooood.
