Apparently it towed the thing over the length of a runway several times.

Standard diesel engine, suspension, brakes and tyres

Diesel V10

It's got bags of torque for sure :D

Only thing IIRC didnt this one get tuned down to avoid twisting the chassis (and that is off-factory?) - would be interesting to know what the impact of pulling a plain would be

PS the PD130 in the Fab vRS is not type approved for pulling a trailer anyway :P :P

That's actually just as powerful as the engines in the proper tow tractors. Not quite as much torque, though!!! Bring on the W12!!! :D

Really?! Somehow I don't think there would be enough traction. This is a real tow tractor, and it has really huge wheels. Plus the runway looks damp. I hope the brakes are/were good too!

Well, yeah, like the tractor I posted, the wheels on the Touareg are a lot smaller, and also it's a lot lighter which isn't going to improve traction (aircraft tow tractors are in the region of 50 tonnes). But all that allows is (relatively) faster acceleration. If you were really careful on the clutch and didn't mind taking a serious amount of time to get rolling, the Touareg would still do the job. Like you say, though, you'd need plenty of advanced warning if you wanted to brake!!!

At least he didnt attach the 747 to his strut brace

Would definately be funny seeing it try and stop. A proper tug for B747 and similar should be up at the 60 tonne level and upwards. Use something lighter and the mass and momentum of the 747 drags the tug around when the tugs brakes, quite an amusing sight (afterwards). Not sure about the Toureg pulling the 747 if it had also to move the typical extra 100+ tonnes plus of fuel it carries, the weight of about 400 people and their luggage, and carry the extra 60 odd tonnes of weight for braking traction....

All said though, still quite the feat for a road car!

:D shes never going to live that one down is she!

Can you imagine braking off centre, I'd imagine it would jack-knife quite easily.

I cant imagine braking at all tbh, just slow down and let it slow down of its own accord.

Bah!

Sigh........

No pembo, never will it be forgotten.

At least you taught people a vital lesson, "Strut braces are no replacement for tow bars!"

Errm, does anyone else think it's a bit unfair to take the micky out of that woman? Yes she's obese but I don't see why or how that's an excuse to be nasty.

Ive changed my above post as you have a valid point. Sorry if I caused offence. But still, Bigw2069 has a point, she must of been happy to "post" for the photo.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to remove the image to prevent this escalating into a huge "soap box" discussion?

WOOOO 500th post :)

I wonder how many seats on the 747 they would make her pay for?
