Could someone tell me, would a tyre with a width of 295 fit a 9 Inch rim, currently it has a 245 tyre fitted.

It will fit physically, and just makes the rim width should be 70 to 95% of tread width for road use recommendation.

You might get arch and/or inner wing/suspension clearence issues though, and I'd recommend going to a 10 or 11 inch rim size if you don't want do deal with issues from inducing an extra undamped element to your suspension travel.
