Featured Replies

Hi,

The reason I haven't posted on here for a while is due to the fact I Part exed my fabia for a bmw 320d e46 saloon.... but ive had it about a 2 months and I can't help thinking how much I want my old 1.4 tdi fabia back.

Don't get my wrong the bmw is a nice car but the mpg is a joke, it might as well be 2.0L petrol, all my money is spent just fulling the thing and all I do in is work and back and to the GF house about 100 miles aweek, fabia would use about

If you can afford the BMW I'd keep it.

It's like the 2.5tdi and the new 2.0d 170 vRS.Not really about economy.

I am glad I can park my car though and not worry about car thieves.Sods

Is a 51 plate, so its the old shape with only 136bhp, and it's well slow for what would expect from bmw, 2.0tdi passat will kill it off :( as i found out... a can afford the bmw but every time I full it, I just think the fabia would last me at least a month and it was a

I did look into the MPG before I bought the bmw, and they rekon is 50 odd on the motorway and 30ish around town WHAT A LIE! its more like 20 around town and about 35/40 on the motorway, this is the same as my old 2.0L petrol I Had Bah!

Seems rather low for around town. Is that in traffic or not?

20 around town? ...my 330Ci does 24 around town and early thirties on the motorway if I sit on the cruise control @ 80-85.

I'd get your car looked @..maybe something wrong with it mechanically:confused:

Yeah, I think will need to have it looked at, as it's drinking diesel like no business

to answer the other question no thats not sat in traffic just driving about at 30/40mph

Going by chris focus's 330ci mine must be way overfueling! lucky for me I took for a years warranty

My 2.0TDi octavia does mid 40s round town, and on the motorway providing I keep at 70MPH seems to average mid 50s MPG, I think there is something very wrong with the BM. I would get the MAF checked first, as maybe the car is overfuelling as its faulty.

It's probably the extra strain from the alternator having to power the front fog lights all the time :)

Sorry, I'll get my coat.

honest view - If youre not happy,GET RID . even if the fuel gets sorted, and god know how long that could take !!! you will still be stuck with tail gaters, window shoppers and no one letting you out of junctions.

Yup my 2.0TDI Passat does a bit less than Manny's figures but it's still very tight with only 2K on the clock. Something wrong with the Beemer.

Not sure if this is relevant, but when researching 3-series BMW's (:o) I stumbled across the following on Honest John's site.....

April 2004: Letter sent to owners of 320 diesels stating, "increased wear may occur on the fuel pump and the fuel filter may become blocked over a prolonged period of time." Fuel pre-delivery pump and fuel filter to be changed.

Na, that extra power is saved by never using power for the indicators. :P

well, i've taken it to a garage with one of though computers that you can plug to the ecu? apperantly it had crashed or something and was on "limp home mode" but they have no idea why it was drinking as much fuel. just got to take it for a drive later see how the fuel lasts.

It does seem to drive a hell of a lot better now, its got some gutts and it goes up hills well now :)

Also I don't drive with my fog lights on as I think its looks stupid and they are called fog lights for a reason, and I do use the invention known as indicators. Remember I haven't always been a bmw driver, drive it like a fabia! :) if thats any better? :S

You crawl around everywhere at 20mph with a huge queue of traffic behind you?! I think I'd prefer you to drive like a BMW driver ;)
