I had the Dunlops on the car originally - swapped front to rear at 9k and replaced them all at 19k. Found them a little too hard and whilst OK in the dry (unless going silly speeds) they were crap in the wet.

At 19k replaced the Dunlops for some Goodyear Eagle F1s in 225/45/17s. Expected them to wear far quicker but doesnt seem to be the case. Swapped fronts to rears after doing around 10k on them and the ones on the front are still fine after doing a total of 18k. Grip in dry is marginally better but in the wet theres a world of difference - especially on roundabouts I find theres less understeer.

Thought i'd revive this one after today's service...

My Dunlop 3000's had 4 mm left on the front and 5 mm left on the rears (9500 miles). They have now been swapped front to back.

I am looking at getting another pair of tyres - my rears are worn(!) I intend to move the fronts to the back and replace the front tyres. The question I have is this...

My rear tyres will be 205 50 17 but I was looking at getting 225 45 17 for the front (to increase grip and from what I gather decrease price). Will this create any nasty effects having a wider front tyre compared to the rear????????

Put the wider tyres on the rear and leave fronts....no problems.

IIRC is illegal to have wider on front than rear and it looks a bit silly. ;)

BTW you have PM....no probs if the answer if "No"..just need to know.

It seems that the new tyres will indeed have to be going onto the rear then!

Has anyone used these people???

They do seem awfully cheap!

IIRC you have to get these fitted so unless you know someone in the trade why not try Micheldever. It's only down the road.

I got Pirelli PZero Rosso 225/45/17 for

I do know a couple of people that may be able to help but on the other hand they were the ones who quoted me
