Asr

Featured Replies

Had my Fab now nearly three months and I keep saying the same thing ' I am chuffed '

Anyhow this ASR button on the dash where you can switch it on or off.

From what I can make out this button switches on the ASR once you start the engine.

Wouldn't it be better the ASR came on automatically-and then you have the option of switching it off?

I have looked in the manual but it is s@@t

Any help appreciated:)

Umm... I think you will find that is the case. When you turn it off the light appears on the dash warning you it is off.

If you can't see the light then it is on.

At least that is what I thought

it does come on automatically

on the display alongside the speedo:

asr light on = asr disabled

asr light off = asr active

boot it off a junction and you'll easily see the difference

True.

I didn`t believe the forum members and pushed the ASR button (skiddy icon on dashboard now lit up-yellow) and thats exactly what happened nearly wrote off a VRS with 20 miles on the clock.....

Leave on in wet (in other words do nothing when starting car). That`s for sure..

Wimp :)

OK gonna bite here. Wimp? It`s a company car. I have to retain my professionalism at all times and if that means not crashing and getting to work on time, then so be it.

God, can`t believe i bite so easily.....

Wimp :)

Have to admit, Im a wimp too! I have it on about 98% of the time. Makes a huge difference:thumbup: (Enter joke here about "He only has it off about 2% of the time")

Lol!. Are we taking about ASR or has the subject gone Chris Moyles, all random like.

I thought everyone was talking about sex :P No, ASR of course!

My mate seems to think of it as

ASR light on = Approved Shaun Raging

ASR light off = Anti Shaun Raging

I`m jealous you have the square fog lights. Guessing 035 plate when the workforce was motivated and EURo IV was just a pipe dream.

I`ll swap!

(Just don`t tell the lease company)

Huh, you lost me halfway through there! Yes, square fogs, they look better IMO. As for the 035 plate and EURo IV references I am confused

Just thought 53 04 54 and 05 were better than 06 which is what i have. And my round fog lights leak water, to be replaced under warranty this week.

EURO IV when the tough emissions came in and a perfectly good engine was tuned down.

I see said the blind man. Well, I love my 01 baby car furbyness with its square fogs :P . I have a load of muck in my fogs, but no water. Fancy cleaning them but I dont fancy the work involved to take them out! :o

I bet youve waited years to say that to someone!:D

To turn the ASR into "reverse mode" - you'd need a relay that closes a switch for about 1 second when the ignition is switched on initially.

Something like this should work, wired to ignition switched live on one relay and closing the ASR switch across the other: CAT. NO. KC5379

https://secure4.vivid-design.com.au/jaycar2005/index.asp

Something like this would be potentially dangerous, so I cannot accept any responsibility if you decide on your own to fiddle with the OEM safety systems on your car. ASR off in the rain might cause a serious accident.

Used somewhere outside the UK where it only rains sometimes, I think it'd be a plus....

I have not done this, only assembled the kit for fun a couple of months ago....

Cheers
