that looks quite funky! 17" wheels!!:D

Fabia Scout next then?

Those wheels would fit a Fabia too!

Hmm.. just about to order a Roomster, as me and missus spend most weekends with a car full of kiteboarding/walking/camping/rock climbing gear.

However, i like the 17" wheels and the non-beige interior on this one. No idea of spec yet?

And from the back....

I quite like it , I'd like to see it in another colour instead of silver tho , I reckon a Black one would look nice , especially with the optional 17"s and the privacy glass! Its a shame its not 4WD tho!

Postman Pat(the real one..not the one on here!!!) will be sobbing they've pimped his post van

Yaaaaaaaar! I like

any idea of prices?

Same Price as Roomster 3

I like the Praktic Van , the Felicia Cube van is reborn!!

Pick up in the pipe line aswell apparently.

To be available in yellow only? :rubchin:

The pick up will be good, it will do away with the "cut and shut" lines of the standard Roomster.

The Scout does look very nice though, the chunky wheels and plastic trim look the part.

To be available in yellow only? :rubchin:

'Roomster Fun' , anyone?;)

Same Price as Roomster 3

I really like the Scout.

Specs on the UK Skoda site aren't very coherent yet though, and no price for the 17in wheels yet which are a must :)

Hmmm, that's not really a review, but raises an interesting point.

I think the Scout looks good, and better than the standard Roomster. The raised ride height will make it better if you go on a lot of bumpy roads too.

But how about looking at it the other way?... How many 4x4s actually go off road and need 4wd> 4wd only adds weight and decreases efficiency anyway when you're not using the extra traction.

OctaviaT81,

You're bang on the money. As a Land Agent I take my regular Mk1 Octavia all over the place, on and mildly off-road (read rutted tracks and fields) this in itself is more than most Freelanders ever see!

The real secret 9 times out of 10 to improving your offroad prowess is ground clearance not traction. When I started out after graduating in 2001 I had an old Citroen BX estate and due to the ability to pick up your skirt and remove the bottom of the car from harms way I could drive pretty much anywhere I needed to.

Sure 4 wheel drive improves traction, but unless you've got dedicated off road tyres it won't bring much more to the party that a bit of careful driving from the off can't sort.

Not wanting to now sound hypocritical I personally am more interested in the Octavia Scout because a) it's a bigger car and B) I can see advantages to the 4wd system for on road situations (Scottish Winters, Making progress on country roads).

It's wasteful to think not only of the uneccessary use of fuel by the average SUV owner (when a sleeker more economical Estate car could fulfill all their needs) but also the resources and energy that has gone into making those thousands of diffs and transmission parts overt the years which are then driven round the place without ever being used!
