VAG 1.9 PD 130 TDI (vRS vs. SEAT, AUDI, VW)

Featured Replies

The VAG 1.9 PD 130 TDI lump is in quite a few cars: Passat, Bora, Golf, Polo, Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Ibiza, Leon etc?

How does the 130 PD vRS stack up to other VAG cars with the same lump, e.g. an A6 with the same lump?

In terms of what mate?

The main killer of acceleration is weight, so the Fabia is quite a bit quicker.

All 130bhp 1.9 litre PD engines are the same. The gearbox it turns varies from car to car.

Don't really understand what you're getting at?

That's kinda what I was getting at. but wondered if say an A6 had longer legs on the gears and ultimately a better motorway mucher?

Would be interesting to compare the 150PD to the 130PD too?

The ultimate VAG 0-60 dash LOL! :D

I know my 130 octy has 6 gears , as against the Furby with 5 , so there must be differnt gearing ratios depending on the type of gearbox .

There have been at least two sets of gear ratios used in the Fabia vRS' six-speed box.

Don't all the PD130 engined cars apart from early Passats have 6spds?..including the Fab VRS!

Not true - the 5 speed ones are detuned to 285NM.

Also, I would get an A6 anyday for motorway munching over the vRS, might not be as quick or economical, but will be much more relaxed, the vRS's incabin noise is poor, as is the ride quality, especially once lowered ;)

Every Fabia vRS ever made has a 6 speed box but the 03/53 reg Fabia's had taller gearing, this gives a slower 0-60 but gives an ultimately higher top speed. The shorter geared Fabia's have quicker 0-60 but a lower top speed, and I would guestimate as a result of been in higher revv's at the same speed, worse economy.

After much deliberation, any remapped Fabia with the new gearbox might aswell kiss goodbye to 1st gear, and most of 2nd if flooring it, whereas the earlier taller geared Fabia's would probably have the power spread better. Although, the tuner who remaps your car can probably tailor your remap to get around this issue.
