odd metallic clunk at rear of car

Featured Replies

posted this months ago

sound like something loose, brakes applied it clanked..... nothing found, looked at gear shaft mounts same.

noise has stopped :)

exhaust has blown :(

guess that months of 'clank' was the exhaust then??????? cant explain any other!

some of the after-market exhausts make some funny sounds.

have you got lowered suspension??

on my old rat-bag felicia the exhaust used to clunk on the rear suspension beam every now and again when braking really hard

Exhaust is a good culprit especially if it is non genuine.

Rear brake compensator assembly on the rear beam. Lubricate the lever and work it in by hand - should do the trick.

just for everybody's info. only the models without abs have a brake bias conpensator valve on the rear beam
