Previously unnoticed feature.....

Featured Replies

Okay, bit of an anorak one this..........I was returning from the shops a few minutes ago and as I neared my driveway I shone my torch at my three day old MkII Octy VRS, just to make sure she was still there !

To my surprise I saw that the "VRS" badge on the grille is actually reflective ! and it lit up like a little Xmas tree !

COOL !!!!

I love little touches like this, they serve no purpose, are generally unnoticed and probably add a few pence to the production cost of each car, but it shows they have a bit of soul !

Wondered if anyone else had any quirky features on cars ( Skoda or otherwise ) that they loved despite them being seldomly useful ( I used to have a 2001 BMW 320, and it had a first aid kit under passenger seat and the usual torch in the glovebox, never used either , but they gave me a good feeling about the people who had designed the car )

on my 1986 mazda when you unlock the door(no central locking let alone remote locking a small orange light illuminates the ignition :)

I've got a 2006 mazda that does that too! As for un-noticed features, the spec on my car doesn't have a trip computer. However after 3 months ownership, whilst putting the clock back an hour, fiddling around trying to change the time, I discovered the non-spec trip computer. Also like the "knightrider" illumination on the radio when you change the volume.

I have a car that every time I put the key in the ignition and turn it, it starts. Must not be French built!

Discovered a storage compartment under the passenger seat in my new Octy today! I know it is standard in higher spec Fabias, just didn't think about it in this car! :)

ok these are the uual things vag cars have that people have no idea about

on most cars above 51 plate wich have lecky windows you can open and lose the windows by puting the key in the lock and turning it and holding it

when you put your car into reverse it will automatically switch to re-circulate on the blowers so you dont suck up your own fumes

vag trip computers have 2 modes

mode 1 only shows from the present journey

mode 2 shows the results from since the reset button was last prssed

to switch btwen them just quickly press the reset button in but dont hold it

with cars that have lecky mirrors when the mirror control is on the right mirror both mirrors move together meaning the left will always be in the same place and right

mine has the aftermarket dent in the front offside wing

I knew about all of these playing aroung, but the re-circulate one i not sure if it works on my octy as the re-circulate arrow doesnt appear on the display, unless it switches modes but doesnt show on the display ?????

Ford and a few other makes have also been doing this for years ... in fact I'm pretty sure my Dad's H-reg Cavalier CD had the first one

Yeah I'm pretty sure you just hear it but it doesn't update the display.....

Chris

one you may all know but i think this thread is good if you dont know some of these hidden things.

pressing 2 of the buttons on the climatronic changes degrees c to degrees f for the tempratures.

EDIT: cant remember which 2, the furthest right 2, top and bottom AUTO & ??????

to cold outside to go and check.

Yep my 94L Cav CDX had the first one.

They ditched that at the 05 facelift. They've got proper electric wmirrors now - left for left, right for right

And close the sunroof if you have one.

I like that if you engage reverse with the wipers on it runs the rear wiper.

I can have either left for left and right for right, or right controlling both by changing the setting through maxidot.:D

It's not much but I liked the central mini sun visor above the rear view mirror on my old Polo, then I was pleased to discover that the Octy had one as well. Nice.

Don't Forget (although you possibly already know!)

If you have your windscreen wipers on, and you select reverse, the rear wiper gives a wipe.

Also the clever 3 flash indicators for lane changes etc.

Parking lights! Leave your indicator on when you've turned the car off...

Parking lights! Leave your indicator on when you've turned the car off...

Or more to the point, if you have turned the lights off and the warning buzzer still sounds when you open the door its because the indicator switch is up or down!

when u put they key in the ignition the headlight switch lights up so you can find it

i like the clip for holding the pay + display ticket to your windscreen, stops you getting a build up of glue on your windscreen or coming back to your car and finding a parking ticket on it cos the ticket fell on the floor!!

Ok, where is this windscreen clip and whats this 3 flash indicator thing :S

3 flash indicators were a 2004/5 facelift change I think? As for winscreen clip for parking tickets . . . you need an Octy (or a Superb?) for that! :P

my 06 fabia vRS has the windscreen clip its a plastic clip on the right hand side of the windscreen

Likewise my 2003 Fabia vRS.
