Miles on a remapped VRS clutch?

Featured Replies

 Just wondering how many miles will the standard clutch last in a Remapped Fabia VRS?

I have had no problems on a 24000 mile car, so when does it start to go pear shaped:confused:

7,000 in mine! LOL

I've seen a few people kill them less than 10k miles after a remap if driven hard

Im close to 80k now on original clutch... have been remapped for 70k

Clutch life is more down to driver than car - my grandmother wore out a clutch in a 1.0 205 in under 4000 miles

318lb/ft

Impressive.

I have no re-map, but I do have many different learners trying to kill it all the time, and it's up to 62k now, and still feels like new :)

IT does depend how you drive. Most remapped cars will cause clutch slip in high gears. If you let off as soon as it happens, you won't be slipping and wearing the clutch out any more than a standard mapped car.

I'm on a sachs motorsport clutch and am not experiencing any slippage at all, even when hoofing it in high gears. Before I changed, clutch would slip in 5th and 6th if booting it between 1500 and 2000rpm

 You must give it some stick.

I have done 17000 with it re mapped and 7000 prior.

Still Its good ro see some managing over 70000 miles with all that torque:)

According to VAG.com I'm pushing 423 NM of torque. That plays a big part, I only get it, if for instance, in 5th at 50mph. 5th at 60mph is fine!

That will do it!!

Oh my God, I don't have to save for a new clutch as well do I??

It looks that way:)

33k, mapped for 27 of that, clutch is good as new. Used as a stress toy, no sensible driving ever. Couple of track days and a ring trip. 305 ft lbs.

Bad driving = poorly clutch. ;)

Or not enough power :D

Your 423 NM is 311 ft lbs. You actually think that the extra 6 ft lbs was just too much for your clutch? 7000 miles?

Like i said earlier.................:D;)

How hard do i have to drive to blow two turbos? ;)

Two? :D Only one has "blown". It was hard, trust me.

The long journey to Portugal didn't help my clutch a great deal, as i didn't bother knocking out of 6th. On the other hand, i'm just look for a chance of an Upgrade. Although, i just get a heavy but sudden vibration and judder, no actual slip of the clutch. Can't think what it could be. The rev's rise according to the speed.

That isn't your clutch, its the flywheel. Mine used to do it, until the torque was reduced to 285 ft lbs. If you drive past that point before you change gear, you will save

That's exactly what i've been doing since the juddering appeared, driving past the point of the juddering and then increasing the speed. 5th gear for instance can't be floored at 50mph, the judder is there. 5th gear at 60mph however is fine. Just learning to drive around it now. Thanks for clearing it up though, it was worrying me :D

Happy to help :D

Wife has the Fabia at the moment. Missing it :(

With your current car. I wouldn't be!

Octavia - Fast - but dull. ESP can't be totally switched off

Fabia - fast up to 90 and much fun on wet roundabouts and lanes.

Was your octavia's ESP standard or an Extra?

Sat inside a few MKII vRS's, there a nice place to be. Maybe the relaxtion makes it dull?
