Heater fan vibrating.....??

Featured Replies

Switched on the heater fan earlier and it started vibrating badly. Still blows out air at the same rate, just sounds bad. It varies with fan speed so i assue the fan it's self has somehow become unbalanced. When it's on max ( position 4) it almost drowns out the engine at idle!! You can feel it through the car a bit too!!

Anyone had this, or a similar problem?? I assume the fan is a complete t*at to get to aswell....... (just my luck :( )

Try dropping the pollen filter out and check for leaves.

If that doesn't fix it, this should!

(Beware, it involves taking bits of your car apart, so it's definitely worth checking the pollen filter first!!!)

I've had it several times, always leaves, usually they break/drop off but I did once have to remove the plenum chamber cover to give it all a good clear out. I think it is a maintenance item also. If you do it you'll prolly finish up breaking the plastic stud things that hold it in place, but they're cheap as chips

Cool, Cheers guys. I'm not averse to taking things apart as i'm an aircraft engineer by day. The noise has changed a bit over the last couple of days and i was starting to think there were leaves etc in there. I'm also gonna have the scuttle panel cover thingy off to clean that area out too. Looks like theres quite a lot of leaf mulch and pine needles in there (previous owner had a pine tree over his driveway!!).

Number for those scuttle clips is on my Fabia site.
