Just thought u guys might be able to help.

My girlfriends just been given a skoda felicia 1.3 'R' plate. there seems to be a bit of a swimming pool growning in the front passenger well... looks like its coming from up under the dash nr the nearside inner wing. is this a common fault? drain plug need cleaning. or area of trapped water leakin in? anyone help?

Apart from that all cool.

gonna have a look about the forum before askin anymore questions.

thanks a lot.

just checked the other posts, doesnt seem like im alone.

windscreen seals at a guess.

You're right, it seems to be quite common. The screen seal on mine is leaking. Feel the padding under the dash and see if it's wet (around the bonnet release). On mine the water comes in at the bottom corner of the screen ie the lowest point. I unclipped the trim from the screen pillar for a better look and could see a water track from the seal corner. I'm going to run some black silicone sealant under the seal in the corner, maybe all around, Halfords sell it, recommended for windscreens etc. A word of alarm, yesterday I prised the carpet up to let it dry. It was sopping with a puddle underneath, so I used a wet and dry vacuum cleaner which got nearly full by the time I'd finished, nearly a gallon of water under there and in the carpet! Also, to get under the bottom edge of the seal I removed the screen trim (the plastic between the screen and bonnet). The two plastic retainers (one beside each wiper) were a pig to pull out, unless there's some special technique I don't know about. Hope that's of some help.

Dont have this problem in my corrado.

didnt have the problem with the favorit either:) They managed to work in a few interesting faults when they developed the favorit into the felicia.

ok hi , I think the winter weather is letting me know also i have this problem recently discovered when i had been putting my amp install in , so in laymans terms what are the steps i need to do to fix this.

thanks

I had the same problem and I found out the water was coming in under the wheel arch.

Take off front wheel and seal any joints you find

also it might be worth resealing the gromet where cables enter the inside from the engine compartment

Best of luck:-)

Check that leaves are not blocking the drainage holes in the bonnet area. This could cause overflow. This used to happen to my brothers Cavalier, so it may be another cause... Worth checking.

no water as yet, but the foam by the bonnet catch is soaked!

Our '98 1.3 MPI started to get very wet in the drivers footwell this summer after heavy rain overnight

So far (a few months), it's been reasonably dry inside since cleaning out, drying, and then resealing the outside bottom corner of the screen rubber on that side of the car.

Nothing was dismantled to do this, but some time was spend gently easing the rubber back from the bodywork, and removing the accumulated damp muck from under there.

Part of the area of the rubber I needed to move was held down by the black strip which goes along the whole of the front under the wiper arms, but enough could be released (and put back again afterwards!) without taking the strip off.

There was quite a void in that corner, where the bodywork and the rubber don't quite meet. I got enough waterproof bathroom sealant in there to fill the hole, and have the rubber touching it when back in place.

It's probably a job for a warm dry day... or a dry day and a hair drier / fan heater.

Your mileage may vary.

Well thanks all for your help. all sorted now, checked all areas under the wheel arch incase it was coming from there.

Finally it was from the windscreen, there was a gap under the rubber-least 5mm, so with a bit of mastic sealant (
